A dog breeder in Alhambra, Calif., is mystified after his golden retriever gave born to a green puppy, according to a Local 6 News report.
The green puppy, named Wasabi, was one of four puppies born five days ago.
The dog is healthy and green, according to the report.
Local 6 News showed video of the puppy rolling around with its normal-looking newborn brothers and sisters.
Skeptics said the dog had to be dyed green but the owner said the puppy was born green.
Veterinarians said it is possible for a newborn puppy's fur to be green because the placenta, which is green, rubs off at birth.
Watch Local 6 News for more on this story.

What if this genetic freak turns out to be a genius dog that can talk? Think about it.

It's mostly a dark red. The fetal membranes have a grayish color, though.

Thanks. I make a point of not seeing these things!

I've helped 'birth' puppies and kittens. Green is a pretty common color to see.

I dyed my white cat blue. He looked good and he really turned heads.

Their placenta is green? Is that true for people, too? None of the 4 I saw were. < cringe>

Well the green isn't as cute as this puppy. Trust me. LOL. This pup needs a good Irish name.

I've seen it more in dogs than cats. I remember the first time I saw it as a young girl... was completely grossed out.

My son was born 2 1/2 months premature. My wife had tumbled down the stairs and broke her water. At the hospital, they tried to stop the labor that began to occur and were successful for a couple of days until an infection entered the womb.
I don't know about the placenta, but the umbilical cord was bright green when he was delivered. I remember it vividly.
My son turned out fine, btw. He's joining the Marine Corps as an officer after he finishes his senior year at A&M.

Maybe PETA had better demand a Congressional investigation into the sexual habits of Green Peace.

I haven't seen the birth of many animals but was surprised to hear about the green color. Too bad one of the puppys isn't red, best sellers at Christmas, lol!

That's highly unlikely, considering that most of those talking green these days are jackasses.
