The breakup of giant icebergs may have forced minor evolutionary changes in penguins over the past 6,000 years, a new study suggests.
The Antarctic iceberg chunks, which break off the continent now and then, are thought to have blocked the swim paths of Adelie penguins returning home to their colonies. Some of the penguins were forced to become immigrants in other colonies, where they established new homes and interbred with the locals.

One of the discoverers of the structure of DNA, Watson or Crick, thought that there has not been time in the presently estimated lifetime of the universe for the variety of lifeforms on earth to have evolved. 13 billion years is not enough. There might be a problem with the Big Bang model, maybe a too literal interpretation of what might actually be only an appearance--a virtual beginning. The universe might be infinitely old in spite of appearances.
I just posted the article so I could see all the penguin pictures everyone would put on here - LOL.
Penguins are amusing, and fill a sizeable niche in contemporary mythology.

And look at the success of the recent penguin movie. They are just so cute!
