WESTON, Mass. --The son of Boston Red Sox broadcaster Jerry Remy was charged with beating up his girlfriend.
Jared Remy, 27, was arrested Monday at his father's home in Weston and charged with assault and battery and resisting arrest. Police said Jerry Remy wasn't home at the time.
Police in Waltham, where Jared Remy lives, said he grabbed his girlfriend by the hair, threw her to the ground, threw a cell phone at her and kicked her in the back, stomach and face. He also allegedly punched her in the eye and hit her in the stomach.
"She tried to call police and he grabbed the phone away," Detective Sgt. Tim King told the Daily News Tribune of Waltham.

Someone needs an ass kicking...
Someone needs an a** kicking?
Seems like it was her...just a joke people but if they are equal well.......
Ping
Awwww sheeesh...not good.
On the bright side- it's not the middle of the season when this would get 5 times the attention and coverage.
Someone needs to have a meaningful chat with this boy..
Curt, Trot, Tek, Timlin....
I think they could give that boy the ass whipping that his Daddy obviously never did.
If you bought a home out there 20 years ago then you are likely talking about a different situation than today.
That place reeks of money and leftism.
Don't know how familiar you are with the Boston area (I've lived here all my life) but Weston has *always* been the richest town in the area,so he probably paid very serious $$$ for his house when measured by the price of real estate at the particular time that he bought it.
I grew up two towns over and while it was always a money town, RE in that area has seriously exploded. What used to be $600K back then is now double that, easily.
I would say that Remy is easily making over $250k a year doing what he is doing.
from the Herald:
"Jared Remy, the 27-year-old son of Red Sox broadcaster Jerry Remy, hid in his fathers Weston home Monday until police caught him and charged him with beating up his girlfriend.
He was hiding in the house, but he was located after a search, said Waltham Detective Sgt. Tim King. .
(snip)
The elder Remy, a NESN color commentator for Red Sox games, could not be reached for a comment. Police said he was not home at the time of the arrest.
I think this might be the son who's a roid boy muscle-bound freak.
Thank you for the Red Sox ping.
"Being a retired mediocre ball player is,it seems, quite lucrative."
Remy played ten years in the majors and, according to baseball-reference.com made about $480K his last season. He made the All-Star team once. So he probably had a nice grub stake coming out of baseball. He is also a pretty agressive seller of junk collectibles and clothing items like his scorecards and Wally and Wally's chair, which NESN lets him plug during games. He also does appearances on cruises and such. So, I bet he is pretty liquid. I like his analysis of the games, but I am growing tired of him constantly selling crap.
I don't know about his son Jared, but hubby and I can attest that Jerry Remy is (or certainly appears to be) a REALLY nice guy... a real class act. We've had numerous opportunities to "hang out" with Jerry before Red Sox games - at "RemDawg's" on Yawkey Way, which is his barbeque place, and also where they do the outdoor NESN pre-game shows with Tom Caron, Dennis Eckersley, Jim Rice, et al.
We also went to Jerry Remy's All-Star Game Party during the All-Star game in July. Jerry couldn't have been a NICER host of this party for 1,000 fans... he would hang out talking to anyone and everyone (even "bleacher creatures" like us), pose for pics, sign books, hats, etc. for as long as fans wanted. It was an expen$ive party, but well worth it, in our opinion. We had the run of Fenway Park: .406 Club, All-Star Club, clubhouse tour, dugout, batting cages, pics taken with the WS trophy, and got to walk on the field (warning track) and posed with Wally in front of the Green Monster scoreboard. They broadcasted the All-Star Game on the jumbotron... you could sit anywhere in the park to watch it. And it was all you could eat... great food, too. Not just the usual ballpark stuff. Water and soft drinks were included; beer, wine and mixed drinks were extra.
I assume RemDawg will have this party again this July... could be a cool Red Sox fan FReeper get-together... ;-)
I have his book "Watching Baseball - Discovering the Game Within the Game", which I got on amazon.com. He probably made a little $$ from that, but I'm sure it didn't make the NYT Best-Sellers list...
Ahh... thanks for that pic. He's kind of a scary-looking dude.
I have to ask... is that you on the left? ;-)
Eastern Clothing of Watertown...
I've shopped there before and would give them a good reference
Thanks... I completely forgot the name of the store. Living in CT, I'm not really familiar with businesses in MA, especially the Boston area. We get NESN, but none of the local Boston TV or radio stations.
"I have to ask... is that you on the left?"
No. But I often have the same bewildered look on my face.
