IN THE HUNT (Teams that look good enough to be among the 12 playoff qualifiers but not based on conference -- listed with record and previous week's ranking)
1. Indianapolis (8-0; unchanged): The Colts have cleared one of their largest hurdles on the way to a perfect season.
2. Denver (6-2; unchanged): With a rested defense and Mike Anderson and Tatum Bell in the backfield, the Broncos should take care of business in Oakland.
3. Pittsburgh (6-2; unchanged): The Steelers are thankful for their exceptional depth at running back.
4. Cincinnati (7-2; unchanged): You're a good team when you win the games you're expected to win, as the Bengals have done the past two weeks.
5. N.Y. Giants (6-2; unchanged): The Giants didn't let their guard down against the 49ers, and they'll need to be equally focused now that Brad Johnson has injected some life into the Vikings.
6. Carolina (6-2; 10): Is there any stopping Jake Delhomme -to-Steve Smith?
7. Atlanta (6-2; unchanged): Although the Falcons defense came up with a game-sealing interception against the Dolphins, it can't feel good about being trampled by the running of Ronnie Brown and Ricky Williams.
8. Seattle (6-2; unchanged): Shaun Alexander already is on pace to break Priest Holmes' single-season NFL record for rushing touchdowns (27), and could realistically have thoughts about a 2,000-yard season.
9. Dallas (5-3; unchanged): The Cowboys can't give any life to the reeling Eagles on Monday Night Football.
10. Chicago (5-3; unranked): The defense makes the Bears a legitimate factor in the unsettled NFC.
11. Washington (5-3; unranked): The Redskins have the defensive strength to add to Tampa Bay's growing offensive misery.
12. San Diego (5-4; unranked): Beating the Jets was less comfortable than it should have been, but the LaDainian-powered Chargers found a way to win, and now have a break at the perfect time.
MIDDLE OF THE PACK (Listed alphabetically) Jacksonville Jaguars (5-3) Kansas City Chiefs (5-3) New England Patriots (4-4) Oakland Raiders (3-5) Philadelphia Eagles (4-4) St. Louis Rams (4-4) Tampa Bay Buccaneers (5-3)
NEED WORK (Listed alphabetically) Arizona Cardinals (2-6) Baltimore Ravens (2-6) Buffalo Bills (3-5) Cleveland Browns (3-5) Detroit Lions (3-5) Green Bay Packers (1-7) Houston Texans (1-7) Miami Dolphins (3-5) Minnesota Vikings (3-5) New Orleans Saints (2-7) N.Y. Jets (2-6) San Francisco 49ers (2-6) Tennessee Titans (2-7)

If the Titan receivers could catch, chances are they wouldn't be 2-7 after losing to my Browns....

On NFL, the Giants are still at #5. On Sportsline, they're still at #4. On ESPN, they dropped from #6 to #7 (?).
What's up with Denver being ranked ahead of the G-men. The G-Men beat them.
The season is a bust for my Ravens, maybe they will get a few high draft choices and package them to the Chargers for Philip Rivers? *WISHING HARD*
was watching the colts open up a can of wh00p-a$$ on the pats last night......before the end of the game some seemed to already be comparing them to 72 dolphins.
stupid media, it's essentially halfway through the season and they're jinxing the colts already.
Been telling this guy for 3 weeks that Carolina was best in NFC but he still wont listen but he's getting there
Its great to see DA BEARS break into the top ten. I know we are only there because of our defense. If our offense could only play up to the level of our defense.....wishful thinking!
We'll see next time, for the Broncos and the Giants will play again.
The big question is why'd ya stop? ;-)
Manning vs. Manning in the Super Bowl?
If they don't go soft on Minnisota Sunday... they could be for real.
Got it. I've stuck through thick and thin, though it is has been hard at times. Remember Ray Hadley (I try hard not to - LOL)? Yikes......
The Dallas/Philly game Monday will be interesting. Dallas should win because there's a lack of injuries, but the main thing will be the back story. We all know who that involves. Donovan McNabb must feel like a boil has been lanced. Even as a Cowboys fan, I had to feel for him. To be saddled with an arrogant a## had to be hard to deal with. Let the games begin.
Hard times? I'll tell 'ya hard times... when Homer Jones was the only good player they had.
Class guy and a great talent...watch for the Rams climbing the power chart next week.
