That word "mass" in production is not clearly defined. What they were looking for(I think)was, how many different mfgrs produced thoses planes. Only Boeing made the B-29's. B-24's were kicked out of Convair, Douglas, Ford and North American plants.

Stuff like this drives airplane geeks nuts. I've seen a picture of McQuire standing next to a Mustang named "Pudgy".
