The old rockers still rock. Maybe it is simple reflex by now, grooved into the brain lobes. Many rockers have expanded into new music, jazzlike, the Van Halens having done so and lost a lot of their oldtime fans, but at the same time creating some really excellent and astonishing stuff. I suspect the Rolling Stones pick up cellos when nobody is looking. Deep Purple/Rainbow was definitely something when they presented their new take on old material, and they still rock exceedingly, but they do pick up cellos when they are out and about. It's all good, and better, more subtle, than ever.
