The sad part is some team will take this idiot next year.
Sooner if he is waived.
Farve to Owens for the TD.
While Owens crossed the line in the interview and in other situations, I don't think that this "fight" can be blamed on him - at least if the details in the article are accurate.
From the news I've seen and read, Hugh Douglas entered the locker room unprovoked and started yelling "there are people in here faking injuries". If this is true, Douglas is the one who started the altercation, not Owens.
If the situation were reversed and Owens came prancing into the locker room accusing a defensive player of faking an injury, everyone would be blaming Owens for starting it - and rightfully so.
From what I've read, Hugh Douglas seems to fancy himself as some sort of company enforcer. He no longer plays but the Eagles keep him around as an "ambassador". Douglas renamed the position as "bad-ass-ador". Douglas and Owens already had an altercation in an elevator during the offseason.
Before someone goes completely off half cocked and accuses me of trying to excuse Owens - I firmly believe that Owens has handled this situation badly. I believe, though, that the Eagles haven't handled the situation very well themselves. Rather than cutting ties with a player that is disgruntled and becoming a cancer, the Eagles have thought that it was a wise course of action to go to war against him.
Sending their "bad-ass-ador" to confront Owens just shows how bad the Eagles have lost control of the situation.
The Falcons could use him. They have the running game and the Defense. He's the missing part. They just need to pony up the cash.
