ESPN's Chris Mortensen has confirmed rumors that Terrell Owens engaged in a fist fight Wednesday with teammate Hugh Douglas. The fight broke out after Douglas came into the locker room and announced "I know there are people in here faking injuries." Another Eagles source reported that both Douglas and Owens threw at least two punches a piece before T.O. challenged quarterback Donovan McNabb and then everyone else in the room, saying "You want some? Anyone else want some?"
All of this drama comes as ESPN has also confirmed that the Eagles and Brian Westbrook have agreed to a 5-year contract extension worth just under 25 million dollars.
I'll never forget after the Super Bowl last year. He couldn't stop talking about his "heroic performance" after the game. He seemed like he didn't even care that the Eagles lost.
Truthfully, I'd like to smack all of them around just a bit.
I don't care what they say - they are role models for our kids and horrible ones at that.
These idiots have gotten me off pro-football forever. Basketball has been lost for me since Allen Iverson and his ilk showed up.
Why isn't it Fave-ra?
Yet, pronounced Farve.
I knew that. I just didn't preview.
The Eagles-Redskins game is coming up tonight. Interesting to see what happens...
I think he's going to have to reinvent himself a little bit first. The Raiders are almost too obvious, but why not?
To Brett it does...:)
What a sign of the times. When I was a kid the face of the Sixers was Dr. J, now it's tattooed gangsta punk criminal degenerate Iverson.
Glad you brought that up. My son is a football freak and his favorite team, to my dismay, is the Eagles. I told him when the team got Owens that he was a cancer and that football is a "team" sport and not one for individuals. I hope my son gets the point after seeing TO's antics and the Eagles' slide.
On a side note... I feel for the rest of that team. Bringing Ownes in was a stupid move.
While Owens crossed the line in the interview and in other situations, I don't think that this "fight" can be blamed on him - at least if the details in the article are accurate.
From the news I've seen and read, Hugh Douglas entered the locker room unprovoked and started yelling "there are people in here faking injuries". If this is true, Douglas is the one who started the altercation, not Owens.
If the situation were reversed and Owens came prancing into the locker room accusing a defensive player of faking an injury, everyone would be blaming Owens for starting it - and rightfully so.
From what I've read, Hugh Douglas seems to fancy himself as some sort of company enforcer. He no longer plays but the Eagles keep him around as an "ambassador". Douglas renamed the position as "bad-ass-ador". Douglas and Owens already had an altercation in an elevator during the offseason.
Before someone goes completely off half cocked and accuses me of trying to excuse Owens - I firmly believe that Owens has handled this situation badly. I believe, though, that the Eagles haven't handled the situation very well themselves. Rather than cutting ties with a player that is disgruntled and becoming a cancer, the Eagles have thought that it was a wise course of action to go to war against him.
Sending their "bad-ass-ador" to confront Owens just shows how bad the Eagles have lost control of the situation.
Randy Moss and Terrell Owens in the same lineup ... now there's a recipe for disaster.
That is irrelevant. Dallas would actually be one of the front runners to acquire Owens if he became available.
I generally think Owens' celebrations are funny but I am glad that George Teague leveled him the second time. I think the fans took it more serious than anyone else though.
He wont be coming to Dallas. You heard it here 1st.
Yep.
The meanest guys on the field were Jack Tatum and Dick Butkus - and they were pussycats off the field.
Roger Staubach, Charlie Waters, Steve Largent, Walter Payton vs. Terrell Owens (the hitter or the ego), Bill Romanowski (the spitter), Ray Lewis (the killer), Randy Moss (UGH).
It would be nightmare for a defense, provided their teammates wouldn't kill them first.
It would actually be a really long list. Probably less than a half dozen teams wouldn't take Owens.
This of course is totally dependent on what the teams would have to give up for Owens. If the Eagles required huge compensation in a trade then it would certainly affect the interest.
If he were cut, however, almost every team that lacks a dominant wide receiver would take a serious look.
Whoa! Too far back for me!
The thing that bothered me most about dirty player Romanowski is that he wasn't OUR dirty player.
Exactly.
The fans would never stand for T.O. on the team.AWB
You're right. Fans here wouldn't want him playing for us. He's a trouble maker.
