Let them burn. Actions have consequences. The French society/culture/philosophy is evil.

"French society/culture/philosophy is evil"

You are, of course, aware of the fact that the Founders got the idea of three balanced branches of government from an "evil" French philosopher named Montesquieu. The beautiful center of Washington was designed by an "evil" French architect, who was inspired by other evil French architects. How much evil there is in Gothic architecture (the riots are taking place near the very first Gothic church, St. Denis). The great 20th century Catholic novelists, Mauriac and Bernanos, were evil. So is the powerful and sublime music of Poulenc, Saint-Saens, and Faure. (I hope your church bans the evil "O Holy Night", written by Adam).
The Vichy government was evil, the collaborators were evil--but were those who resisted, at the risk of their lives? How evil were the citizens of Paris--frivilous,decadent Paris--who in 1870 ate rats rather than give in to the Prussian siege?
Chirac is evil, but would you condemn all of the US because of Bill Clinton?
