I think in the end most kitties, even as adults, will at the very least tolerate a newcomer. It always makes me happy to see two former fighters end up snuggling each other after about 6-8 months. That is just now happening with my two boys. My oldest is thirteen, and is the kitty overlord. My youngest, who showed up this summer starving, sick, and beaten up (he was about six months old), is just about one. It has taken this long for the little one to understand who the boss is, and now they sleep together. That always feels like such a victory to me.

My vet has about seven cats who live in her office. One of them was a pregnant momma when she was rescued from an alley with all the other ferals. She had her kitties at the vet's, and they kept her because she was so great. She ALWAYS lays on the keyboard at the front desk. She's a very sweet girl.

Good luck with your new one. I love having new kitties.

We just got back from vetting the kittens (now named Tweek and Pippin)… They had ear mites and worms, some fleas, a mild nose and eye cold, and they’re too young to vaccinate, maybe 4-5 weeks instead of 6+. So they’ll have to go back in a couple more weeks for their first round of shots.

This was their little travel bag for the vet trip.

Tweek having her ears medicated…

Yesterday I had a mother, and my life was better.

Pippin is just overwhelmed by the humiliation of it all…

They aren’t really eating as much as they probably should, so we bought some milk replacer and some canned food to see if they’ll lap that up better.
