Just needed to throw this out there for response. Getting lonely in a blue state sometimes. Any advice for dealing with relatives with "blue state" cliches would be appreciated too. Tired of old country Euro-Socialism talking points....
My grandmother was also very young, 15 and sent over in an arranged marriage that lasted over 50 years. She was very big in the Orthodox Church on Huntington Avenue in Boston and part of the group that sponsored Makarios of Cyprus when he went to B.U.
My Aunt Lydia wrote an obscure book about it, "Smoldering Smyrna", long out of print, AFAIK.
Yup, her and her mom were the only surviving members of their immediate family. Five brothers and her dad - gone...and numerious other family members.
