LAS CRUCES, N.M. -- Police say Ralph Montano Sr. is accused of having inappropriate contact with a 16-year-old female student at Las Cruces High School. The student told detectives Montano had flirted with her while he was substituting at the school last week. The girl said she flirted with him and kissed him on the neck while he was sitting at his desk.

Montano told detectives the girl had initiated the sex act by exposing herself and telling him to touch her.

Court records state that Montano told detectives he wanted to take responsibility for his actions and regretted that it ever happene

And the bottom line is that teachers, who are in a HUGE position of trust, influence and power, had better LEAVE THE KIDS ALONE (as Skaterboy said,) and also teach them that such "relationships" are morally, socially, and legally VERBOTEN. PERIOD.

She flirted with him and kissed him (according to her). Though he is an idoit, he should get 6 months off his 9 year sentence.

A female teacher having a male student doing the same thing would get 6 month parole.

I knew that. I'm not so sure I want to meet them.

I'm just not clear on what the neanderthal qualifications are.

The teenage-boys-having-sex-with-their-really-hot-teacher is obvious. That counts.

How about more subtle things?

* Holding the door open for a lady? (Enen the not-so-ladylike?)

* Acknowledging that my wife is much more skilled and adept at raising children and managing a household than I?

* Believing that there actually ARE differences between men and women? Each gender has strengths and weaknesses? That we're different but equally important in God's eyes?



Any one of those would get me thrown out of a NOW convention, or scolded by by "progressive" relatives. So THEY would consider me a neanderthal. Would you?
