Many Hungarians spoke German besides Hungarian, because it was the "language of the Empire". There is nothing at all surprising about this man being fluent in German; especially since he moved to Austria as a child.

Thanks for the info...I never knew that "BAMBI" was written by a European. I've never read the book, nor had it read to me. Yes, I did see the cartoon as a child and also as an adult.
