A 22-year-old man was killed in Colorado Springs after accidentally shooting himself outside a fast-food restaurant drive-through.
Randle Cunningham shot himself in the groin while at the drive-through window at a Taco Express at about 1 a.m. Sunday.
Witnesses said Cunningham was paying for food he ordered when he dropped some of his change on the ground, while taking it from the cashier. The witnesses said Cunningham opened his car door to retrieve it and bent over, apparently causing a weapon he was carrying to discharge.
Cunningham was rushed to Memorial Hospital, where he died at about 1:45 a.m.
Police said there were no other people in Cunningham's car at the time of the shooting an that an autopsy would be conducted Monday.

Well done.
While holsterless/waistband (gangster) carry is pretty scary, unless it was a cocked revolver (mondo stupid) it still takes more than slight pressure to actuate the trigger.
Your explanation makes sense, if he was trying to rob the place he easily could have yanked the trigger during the drawstroke and shot himself.
OTOH, maybe he DID have a custom S&W Combat Master with a glass smooth 1/4lb SA trigger pull, hammer cocked and pointed at his crotch loaded with .357 JHPs. Perhaps he was a risk taker.
"...Isn't there a "Randal Cunningham" or such in the NFL?..."
Yes there was. He played for the Eagles. The Cunningham mentioned here is spelled Randle. Two different people,
