"... into a catalog ..." It would appear you've got an old-fashioned piece of programming there, 'Face. It thinks the world is supposed to end in Y2K.
See if you can use a different "catalog," or invest in a cheap, but more modern bit of software.
If you have "Microsoft Access" it should be able to handle the job.

I thought it was "new," but it obviously is not.
(It was a gift from my brother.)
I have the recovery CD's from the other one I had, and I wonder if I can use them without hurting anything.
Same brand, etc.

NnB has got it just about right. Yes, this is pre-Y2K software, and enough so that they were using the shorthand of "last two digits" of the year. A wretched practice that seemed to vanish for a while around 2000 but seems to be seeping back in. Dealing with different nationalities with with different date conventions, I often can't tell if 05/06/07 is June 7 2005, May 6 2007, June 5 2007, or what...
It will become much clearer in 2013.
