There's a scary sight in Waco. It's a huge wooden gargoyle on north Valley Mills and it's selling for $2.6 million.
Its owner says three universities, including the University of Texas, have appraised it as the oldest and largest gargoyle in the United States -- between 250 and 300 years old. He also says there's a ghost story behind how he got it.
He says he was an officer in Austin when he got a call that a crowd was opening fire on a statue that had come to life.
Dr. Ali Ali Abdula Muhammad says, "The guy shot the gargoyle twice. Once in the chest and once in the stomach with a .357, and the bullets just fell down on the ground. And it scared the lady to death. She said, 'Hey, I don't want it anymore."
He says several people have made serious offers, including a museum in New York.
Watch a video about this weird thing here.

That movie totally freaked me out when I was a kid. The Gargoyles.
I thought Muslims weren't supposed to make statues of Muhammed.
My sister has a thing for gargoyles. She has dozens of little stone gargoyles around her house and yard.
Looks like the thing from Jeepers Creepers
I think I'll pass.....
Neat-o. That thing would look awesome perched over my garage...
That is CREEPY! If it weren't so expensive I'd place a bid.
Any one know of any moderately priced knock-off's? I think it will go well in my dorm next semester.
Me too....I have gargoyles all over my office.
I like this one!
Ghost ping?
Thank you!
I don't think that's a gargoyle. I think it's a grotesque. I don't see any place for the water to spout, and, frankly, it wouldn't make sense to carve a gargoyle out of wood.
