The race for 35th in owners' points and a guaranteed starting spot in the first 5 races next year...

• These teams are locked in no matter what since there is no minimum-starts requirements in Cup - 20, 48, 16, 99, 12, 6, 17, 2, 97, 19, 42, 24, 38, 29, 01, 25, 88, 31, 8, 5, 21, 9, 15 (likely transfered to the 1 so Truex gets the guarantee), 41, 18, and 40.
• As long as these teams start the last 3 races, they're locked in - 45, 43, 07 and 0.
• These teams (the rest of the top 35) will stay in the top 35 after Texas no matter what - 49, 10 (or whatever they'll be next year), 22, 77 and 11.
• One team is still mathematically in the hunt if the 11 starts the last 3 races - the 4 (297 points behind)
• Last year's 34th-place team, the 32, is out unless the 11 folds before Texas and they can get the maximum 190 points each race (they're 568 points back, and you can only get 570 points). Everybody else will be racing their way in to start next year.

Rudd is the subject of more rumors than anyone else, even the Labontes. Now the hot rumor is (after he was rumored to be headed to the #42) that he'll be in the Blue Deuce if the trade falls through. Also, look for the return of the #28; that will be the #97 team next year.

Rubberhead didn't show for the Wind Tunnel show tonight, he sent Shrub in his place saying he had a last minute obligation in Detroit. Does Roush have offices in Detroit? May have something to do with the dominoes being put in place otherwise he just baled on Dave because he wrecked today.

Jr's interview was awesome, he answered questions about his new Busch team, Teresa's interest in DEI and whether he would drive the #3 for RCR some day. He was on satellite from his garage at home in Mooresville.
