There are 500 dogs in very dire circumstances in Mountain Home, Arkansas today.
There are ONLY 6 people onsite and theyre desperate for capable people who are experienced with aggressive dogs to help with this most inhumane situation. They are begging for capable bodies who can help clean and care for the dogs.
Many dogs have gone cage crazy and are now trying to attack their handlers. Dogs are sick and dying and have no medical care. Young puppies are being exposed to filth, parasites and disease.
If you have shelter experience and can get there, please contact Donna@badrap.org IMMEDIATELY for the info you need to go help.
Please crosspost widely and QUICKLY, this situation is DESPERATE and HAPPENING NOW.
Even if you can only go for one day, DO IT. Even if you can't go until Monday or Tuesday or Wednesday, DO IT. But the sooner the better!
Animal control equipment would be useful if you have it.

But please don't let Pit Bulls scare you off from helping when or if they come to Seattle. My rescue experience down in Louisiana with hundreds of Pits was wonderful.
In a 2004 study of 122 dog breeds by the American Temperament Testing Society (ATT), Pit Bulls achieved a passing rate of 83.9%. That's better than Beagles (78.2%) and Golden Retrievers (83.2%) and dozens of other "popular" breeds. (Better than my own breed!)
Everyone should take a look at how his/her favorite breed stacks up. Breeds are listed alphabetically on several pages... See for yourself:
Check your favorite breed's temperament test results here
Pit Bulls are bred to be fabulous with humans, and every one I encountered WAS fabulous with humans. Every breed comes with it's own characteristics and challenges, but Pit bulls who are TRUE to their breed character are wonderful with humans. Bad breeding and/or bad treatment by lousy human beings can ruin ANY dog of ANY breed.
Some breeds will dig holes in your yard, some breeds will chase anything that moves, some breeds will herd your children, some breeds bark more than others, some breeds shed more than others, some breeds have more health problems... with Pit Bulls, you have to understand, and be prepared for, a certain amount of dog aggression. And you have to socialize, obedience train, and make adjustments for it - such as not leaving two dogs together unsupervised. But I can't leave my two HOUND dogs together unsupervised or they'll chew up the couch!
I encourage everyone to educate themselves about Pit Bulls. They are a very misunderstood breed that has a very undeserved bad reputation.
Thanks. I don't want to re-debate pit bulls here, it's a distraction, but I'm sure we'll have the chance to talk about them in the future on another thread.
Please remember this is a fluid situation. Types of experience and number of volunteers and supplies needed could change quickly. Our goal is to stabilize this area over the next week and then work to make decisions on a broader scale. Given the state of the facility this situation cant be turned around overnight. We will win this battle one day at a time.
The Sheriff has tasked "For Pits' Sake" to manage the volunteer program. They are experienced in this and have the authorization of the Baxter County Sheriff and the Humane Society of North Central Arkansas.
