Thanks for the pings!
Both of you make valid points which I had not considered. I guess my line of work compels me to plan for such contingencies. The records associated with my animals are tied to my cell phone. And there are out-of-state contacts listed in the event of my untimely demise.
From your link... to record for the record before the link goes bad:
Raid uncovers hundreds of dogs
CHANDRA HUSTON
Bulletin Staff Writer
GAMALIEL Two people have been taken into custody after Baxter County Sheriff Office investigators and deputies found 400 to 500 dogs in a makeshift Gamaliel animal shelter Friday evening.
The sheriff's office did not release the names of the people in custody as of press time.
Howling, barking, growling and whimpering could be heard all around the property as officers executed a search warrant at County Road 44 and Bean Drive.
Conditions of the dogs were not known Friday at press time.
Some of the dogs appeared to be aggressive, while others lay nervously in small cages.
Sheriff John Montgomery said his office received information about an excessive amount of dogs Friday and flew over the premises in the county's helicopter to take pictures.
"I've never seen anything like this before," he said.
Deputies secured the scene, and the dogs remained on the property overnight. Montgomery said the animals would be removed today.
Representatives from the Humane Society of North Central Arkansas also were on the scene Friday.
I tried to post it on discoweb.org but no one has even posted. I used to like this website but so many assholes have taken over.
This is the first report I've read-- and I've read many around the net and on groups working to help Katrina pets about this particular situation-- where it has been suggested the animals are aggressive.
Pasado's Safe Haven, a group who placed some animals at Tammy Hansons place (EDNAH - "Every Dog Needs A Home") is back on the ground there. Working to find a place for all the animals.
For more details about what took place you can go to
http://www.pasadosafehaven.org/NEWS/PitbullPlacement.htm
Yes, a number of dogs there are Pitbulls. But there are a lot of other dogs there that are not. Also, a number of other places from LA have sent dogs to Tammy.
The reports coming out that I have seen have NOT indicated that all, or even a majority, of these dogs are aggressive.
You're right... I think some people accidently read the word "many" and assumed it meant "most" are aggressive.
"Many" in a context of 500 dogs could simply mean 10-20. But 10-20 aggressive dogs can really make for a bad day. :-)
Also, because so many dogs are running loose (I've read maybe 70), that means it may be difficult or impossible to even take the aggressives out of their crates for a walk.
Challenging conditions, to say the least.
The good news is they are finally getting some help. These poor babies have been through so much. As I've said before, it's a wonder more of them haven't gone crazy after all they've been through.
In my opinion, they really are a testament to GOOD temperament if they can survive the multiple hellish situations they have been through in the last 8 weeks and NOT turn on each other and on humans.
Thanks, Hair. Gotta run. Y'all have a good day.

This is heartbreaking!
I made a donation to "For Pits' Sake" here:
https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr
100% of these donations will go to the Humane Society of North Central Arkansas for the care of the EDNAH dogs.
It's the last hope for these suffering animals.
Monetary donations or donations of basic dog supplies are still being requested.
Supplies needed include:
large crates (Vari-kennel or wire)
stainless steel food dishes
stainless steel water buckets
leashes
towels
blankets
dog beds
toys
For now, donations of cash and supplies can be sent directly to (checks payable to):
Humane Society Of North Central Arkansas
"EDNAH support"
2656 Highway 201 North
Mountain Home, AR 72653
I believe the dogs are now being cared for adequately, so they don't need any more volunteers at this moment. But that could change at any time. So if you can be available to go help if needed, please keep in touch.
They are working with representatives from several rescue groups, the HSUS, and the Arkansas Humane Society. As I learn more info, I will post it.
For now, please send any donations you can, and continue to keep these dogs in your prayers. Thank you.
I will send a check tomorrow. I wish that I could go down to help. Thank you for posting and to HOTD for the ping. This is breaking my heart and I am such a coward when it comes to aminal suffering that I couldn't even click the link )o:
I will send all I can. God this makes me sick to my stomach. Bless all of you that are helping. All these animals want is love and the basics. We can't provide the love, hell many of them have probably never had that. But we can provide the basics and with lots of luck and care, maybe some of them will have love someday.
Animal lovers following plight of dogs
Not a lot new, but it's nice to know that there is a lot of attention and concern that will hopefully translate into needed help.
Agreed. It sounds like there's help coming in. I'm interested that there's a Seattle based rescue group involved, because they're near enough to me if the dogs ended up back here, but unfortunately, it seems they are the source of all the pit bulls. So there's that.
