I was just in NYC for a few days for a conference, and one of the shows I saw that knocked my socks off was this show of Oscar Bluemner's paintings. The color was one got off the elevator was amazing, and a refreshing change from postmodernism. I was going to write my own review of it for FR, but John Haber did an excellent job, so I print his words here. I have inserted my own choice of pictures, and changed the title a bit to make it clearer to FR readers, but otherwise it is all his writing.

I
love the watercolor. Fluid, rhythmic, shadows in all the right places, great use of light.
The rest just do nothing for me. I stand and go "?????"
