I would rather have heard Bernie Mac sing.

Well Crud. Stros out again and Contreras has only thrown 79 pitches through 7.
To: ZGuy
Clearly most Freepers will be rooting for the Astros. Hey, speak for yourself, buddy!
GO SOX!

Yeah. It was a nice little arrangement, but her performance says a lot about what kinds of things they can do in a recording studio.

Almost any random person in the stands could have done a better job on "God Bless America."

It does. A live version..Way, hey, tow 'em away, oh, Lincoln Park pirates are we. Be it Edsel or Chevy there's no car too heavy and we always collect our fee...

Sounds like any folk-wanna be busking in the Boston subway system. But there was no Red Line train arriving to drown her out.
To: jdm
At least she's hot, though. I must confess to owning several of her records (yes, vinyl) back in the late 80s, early 90s, while in the midst of the whole modern rock, post-punk college phase. For almost 40 years old, you could do worse.

Well, it was done in good spirit and wasn't disrespectful, even if her voice wasn't in great shape. (To give her the benefit of the doubt, it's getting cold out there....)
I guess considering the recent actions of the entertainment nitwits these days, I'll call this a plus.
(Yes, I'm a pushover for guitar-playing blondes....)

It was godawful, I agree. I had my back turned to the TV when it started and I expected Stevie Nicks. But I don't think Stevie Nicks even sings *that* bad.

Thinking of Chicago acts...bring on Styx
To: jdm
Liz Phair can't sing worth a S&IT. Yikes. That performance should give enormous encouragement to American Idol hopefuls.

yes, indeed. Anyone's voice can be doctored to sound professional. I normally hate Sheryl Crow but that one song of her's that Drudge always plays on his Sunday night radio show (it's called "Chances Are") is an absolutely gorgeous, stunning track. No way can Crow really sing that beautifully, of course.

I'm torn here tonight. I'm a National League Central fan...Cubs. But its the Chi-Sox I'm pulling for.....I feel like a traitor..damn I hear ya. I'm from the North Side, born and bred Cubs fan. But the Sox are Chicago, after all! So you're still pullin' for da home town!
The Cubs will get their turn in 2008, just in time for our every-century '08 championship.
But for now: GO SOX!
