Bravo for you to do this. I just loose it when I try.
I am mostly, as you notice, a free-verser, too...but it's fun to structure sometimes. Stretches you as a writer. Can you do it and not sound trite? Can you do it and not sound too artificial?
There's tricks to it, of course.

I would indeed love to tell you of caverns deep, and pots of gold, amid the elfin glens, but due to the grinch, I will be off line for a while.
