The Hobbit Hole XXV - Fare you well! Fare you well!
http://freeper.the-hobbit-hole.net/ ^

Posted on 10/15/2005 7:13:08 AM PDT by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Fare you well! Fare you well!

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Useful phrase for future reference (I stole it from another thread re Cong. Murtha)

"Sounds like he's at least a half a bubble out of plumb."

I like that... it's picturesque!

I always liked Dear Abby's: She's two sandwiches short of a picnic"

And my all time favorite... "The wheel is a'turnin' but the gerbil has died". Not sure where that one came from :~D

Heh...I was in PetsMart last weekend. There was a gerbal runnin' on that wheel like his life depended on it. Noisey little feller.

Had the parakeets all het up.

I didn't make up that phrase, if that's what you meant. I stole it from another thread.

And, that graphic is ~not~ photoshopped.

Just wait, there will be a half dozen threads about "never had a tropical storm in November oh yes we have you don't know what you're talking about there was one back in 19-such-and-such and you're a moron and pray my house doesn't get blowed away again" before morning.

It's like ordering a Big Mac. You can go anywhere in the world, walk into a McDonald's and a Big Mac tastes exactly the same.

Predictability is very comforting for a gal who hates traveling. :~D

Except in Israel. You have to go into McDavid's.

Seriesly. At least they were there when I was there in the early 80s.

Ugh - I gotta go clean stalls...

Then I gotta come back and see if my husband wants to go out tonight (We have less than a month left to smoke in public) or if he'd rather have that alternative we talked about this morning :~D

You can go anywhere in the world, walk into a McDonald's and a Big Mac tastes exactly the same.

And in some places the people behind the counter might even be convincingly friendly.

Okay, I'm outta here.

With any luck, I'm gonna load up crap in the truck tonight to haul to the dump early tomorrow. Got to get rid of the old stove, etc.

Don't have rehearsal until 2 tomorrow, so there's potential that I could get the leaves up out of the front yard again.

Or I could just pray for wind to blow 'em into the nayber's yard.

See y'all later.

Vincent: And you know what they call a... a... a Quarter Pounder with Cheese in Paris?
Jules: They don't call it a Quarter Pounder with cheese?
Vincent: No man, they got the metric system. They wouldn't know what the **** a Quarter Pounder is.
Jules: Then what do they call it?
Vincent: They call it a Royale with cheese.
Jules: A Royale with cheese. What do they call a Big Mac?
Vincent: Well, a Big Mac's a Big Mac, but they call it Le Big-Mac.
Jules: Le Big-Mac. Ha ha ha ha. What do they call a Whopper?
Vincent: I dunno, I didn't go into Burger King.
