The Hobbit Hole XXV - Fare you well! Fare you well!
http://freeper.the-hobbit-hole.net/ ^

Posted on 10/15/2005 7:13:08 AM PDT by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Fare you well! Fare you well!

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

It was such a weird restaurant ... tried to be both, and did neither cuisine well. And sold knicknacks on the side.

The building I worked in was built around a human centrifuge. One day I'll tell you about the time the baboon got loose ...

Human centrifuge

[snort][spit][hack]

OK... I'm owed about a half a beer for that. :-)

Oh bother, the widow and her daughter just settled in with a couple of drinks for a little heart to heart talk. How on earth did they get there?

And what on earth do they say to each other?

Maybe one of the outbuildings needs to get blowed up or sumthin'...

You could mix and match .. but their enchiladas were atrocious ... I think they used Kraft American Cheese!

And the Chinese food was nothing to get excited about ... I've had frozen that was as good.

...like that new German-Chinese restaurant. The food's OK, but half an hour later you're hungry for power.

[rimshot] :-P

I give up. Just can't write a thing tonight. :P

I'm going to bed early and maybe I'll dream up some inspiration.

Nighty night!

It's actually a double-ended 'fuge, one with a human gondola and one with a loop for animal testing. See a pretty good picture of the human gondola at http://www.brooks.af.mil/HSW/CDB/images/educat4.jpg. For a chatsy article, look here.

Naw, the fish one is on a different person's camera...I hope she gets it to me sometime!

He does need a haircut! But he doesn't want a buzz which is all I can do and I can't bring myself to pay for the haircut. LOL! Guess I better break down and do something...

We often went down to the control room and watched test subjects pass out at 8-9g, then would critique them as they came around.

Then there was the hyperbaric chamber, and the vertifuge.

Just the stuff made it a fun place to work.

Oh and our hens have almost quit laying all together...they're just bug control now. LOL! Was a bit of a shock to have to buy eggs again.

Then out of the blue one of the buff orpies laid today! Surprise!

It's the sideburns that are just really '70's. :-)

If you're writing sci-fi don't you inherently need to end the day with a prime number? Just seems... appropriate somehow.

Not just fun... but handy... like if you reload your own ammunition and had a couple pounds of yellowcake that needed enrichment... er... nevermind...
