Home is behind, the world ahead, |

Ya made me look... looks like our Miami office is still down. But they must be making some good progress. They should be back soon.
My mom called me at work to say that my cousin decided to swing by our house and check on things when she noticed a blue light.
Turns out, that was the TV screen since it was on when the power went.
By the time I got out of work, picked up my mom and kids at the grandmother's and got home, the cable came back on too!
So we're good to go here. Just waiting for the supermarkets to get restocked so we can replace all we lost in the fridge.
Welcome back. Try not to trip over any piles of dropped hints.
Hope you got it all out and thrown away before anything got really bad. :P
I'm tellin' ya, it was terrible.
I've taken much for granted.
First thing I did? Ran a hot bubble bath for the girls and let them soak for a good half-hour. :-D
I've cleaned out the fridge and straightened out the house a bit (it was trashed), but I'm tired now and just want to hang out with my friends for a bit.
Most of the stuff was eaten before it went bad, but we did lose all the ice cream and some of the meats.
I don't play around with possible spoilage, so I tossed everything that remained. Even the ketchup.
*thud*
Hey! Who put that there!?
So nothing but food damaged or broken then?
Well, we lost the gate on our backyard fence and quite a number of shingles off of the roof. Both needed replacing anyway.
The avocado tree was lost with Katrina.
The good news is that the part of the fence we just put up after Katrina actually withstood Wilma! Whew!
But my once gorgeous tree-filled neighborhood is destroyed. I'd say about 80% of our trees are stripped, have fallen or are in some way battered from the hurricane. Very sad.
Yeoww... that many trees? That's a bummer. It can take a long time to recover.
I remember the ice storm we had a few years ago, and it took down many many trees. Some places looked like a tornado hit. But it sounds like your neighborhood got hit a lot harder than that.
Hopefully a decent number of the trees will recover next year.
The association will be sending all homeowners a bill very shortly.
With Andrew, it was $500.00. And that was in 92.
I expect they'll ask for at least $800.00 from everyone to replace the trees this time. The very same trees we paid for after Andrew are mostly gone. ~sigh~

Evening!
Glad to hear you've got your ammenities back.
How about the gas station situation?
You need some barn cats out there. Unless something starts killing the cats.
I know I do....
I've got an order in for some kittens.
heh. I tried that test... and it keeps coming up with the same thing nomatter what answers I pick.
Hmmm... maybe it really *does* know about me...
You have to order them now? Whatever happened to all the animals in the county just showing up at your door?
Heh... I haven't had any kittens show up!
Heh... Tiff has someone at work with kittens she's giving away, but they aren't old enough yet... so they're on order. :~D
