The Hobbit Hole XXV - Fare you well! Fare you well!
http://freeper.the-hobbit-hole.net/ ^

Posted on 10/15/2005 7:13:08 AM PDT by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Fare you well! Fare you well!

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Hehehe....the apple doesn't fall far from the tree. So....you were walking in the slutty end of the neighborhood?

LOL! Right down the street! Directly behind that church down the street from us!

I think there's a couple of rent houses down there.

We gotta get a little bit of land, you know it...

How long before that paper's done? Does Steve's advisor have a clue?

LSA is bleeding the radiators, young cat has discovered 'her radiator' is warming up. Old cat hasn't yet. Gypsygirl wants her walk but also wants the rain to stop first.

He turned it in Monday...another draft.

He hasn't heard back yet.

He mentioned to his advisor's assistant that he was concerned about having to go into another year of work, thus needing another 6 hours and the assistant said he didn't need to worry about it. So he must be close.

It's a very sensative subject around here.

Heh...this hobbit doesn't like the cold. I've been turning the furnace on at night.

Mmmm...land...

Someday I want to be a homeowner again, preferably a house with a little land. Doesn't have to be a lot, but some!

Eating an early dinner here, and then I'm going to a corn maze with some others from the church group. Considering it wasn't planned in time to get an announcement in the church bulletin, I wonder if we'll get more than two or three of us. That could still be fun, though.

~sigh~

Some day...

Sounds like fun with your friends! Think you'll score a caramel apple somewhere?

I'm off. The jedis had been out bike riding with Steve but they're home now.

How's the new job??? I have missed any reports!

Mmmmmm..... that looks like a great recipe!

(Worcestershire sauce is divine)

I made tomato soup this evening from my tomato sauce. Had goat cheese on crackers with it.

I've never done a corn maze before, actually. Not a real one, anyway...though I've gotten lost in corn fields before. ;-)

I wish we were going during the day, though. This is the nighttime one, and it just doesn't really appeal to me...I think they're even doing a "haunted corn maze" deal where people jump out. Great. I don't handle that kinda thing well - ask Jen!

New job is going pretty well! I still don't feel absolutely confident to the point where I'm not double checking all I do and having the guy who's training me check my work, but I'm starting to feel *almost* useful!

You ever talk to someone and it feel like your words are just falling down on the ground like dead fish? That's how I felt.

Every day I spent in the classroom, actually.

I do feel your pain.

There's a delightful show on TLC called "What Not To Wear" where the hosts help their victims find age-appropriate, figure-flattering clothes that promote a wholesome image. If only more women would realize how they undermine their credibility by dressing trashy and talking, like, you know, Valley Girls?

It should be warm by later this evening, just not getting warm enough during the day to carry over through the night. Still it's getting into October, so we guess it's time.

Dang...that's like the grown-up version of Campbell's tomato soup and grilled cheese. Sounds wonderful, too!

I'd invite myself over for leftovers, but I guess it's a bit of a long drive.

They do that here too.

Not sure how we'd ever find our way out of the one here at night... I hope they sweep the grounds for the lost before they close up for the night :~D

Um. There are no leftovers.

I have no self-control.

It was mid-60's in TheSunRoom today. I have the thermostat set at 70 and it didn't really run that much today.

I think we MAY be supposed to bring a flashlight. Hope not. I don't have one.

And hopefully I don't slug anyone at this one. Last haunted maze thing I did was on base in Germany, and I ended up kicking or hitting some of the folks that jumped out. It's how I react to sudden stuff like that. I should maybe have someone duct tape my wrists together.

I got a couple squash today, too. Butternut - mmmmm...
