A writer may see a character one way in their head, but when played out on screen or stage, fiction does tend to have a life all its own.

it's like 9 to 1 against him with lots of "What were they THINKING!" and "Why not...... (Adrian Paul, Gerard Butler, Karl Urban etc) instead?"
