Gang,
Hi! I am interviewing for a position in Warner Robins, GA next week and would appreciate any comments (good or bad) or pointers to information that you can give me. Assume that I know nothing about the area (except that the WRHS football team has a reputation for being pretty good ). Thanks in advance for any info you can give me on this!
Regards,
PrairieDawg
My son lived there for a few years. It is a nice town. There is an air base there, adequate housing, shopping, etc. It isn't far to Atlanta. Weather is very hot and humid in summer but winters aren't bad.
Good luck!!
I have family members who have lived in the Macon-Warner Robbins-Bon Aire area for 40 + years. They are native Georgians, so they love the place!
If I were to relocate to that area, I'd find a couple of acres out near Bon Aire -- 15 or so miles south of WRAFB. But that is because I know that area. And I am prejudiced in favor of the area -- it is more rural, which I like.
Nice people, decent weather (for the deep South), slow pace and low cost of living are the good points. Don't know too much about the schools, but I have a bunch of cousins who grew up and graduated FRom several different high schools in the area, and they seem to have done fairly well.
Your reaction to the area will most probably be contingent on how well you get along with "Southrons." The locals are Very Southern, despite an influx of DamYankees in the past few years, and if you are FRom the North or the Far West, you may have a problem. If you are FRom the Mid-West or the South West, you'll probably be OK -- value systems are more compatible.
If you have any questions or want some more info, FReepmail me.
Good luck!
Where are you from?
Hey Dawg,
I used to deal with alot of the guys from the Base at W.R. and they all seem to love the area reguardless of their background, country, urban, black or white.
One of my favs was a black Ssgt. that just loved the area and now is in Whitcita Falls (sp?) and is saving to buy a place outside W.R.
My brother was stationed there for a couple of years, in the mid-90's. He liked it pretty well. The weather was good for golf and running, but the location wasn't convenient for skiing or scuba diving. He married a girl from Macon, but they're divorced now.
