I bought a 97 Cirrus in 1998 as a former rental car.
When I bought it, it had 18K miles on it.
It is still going today with 120K and I sold it too my dad who drives it to work every day.

As long as you are getting a warranty on the car as CPO, you don't have to worry about how it was driven before you got it... the warranty will fix it, right?
The things that the warranty can't fix are damage to the interior, removing a smoked-in smell, and so forth.
One thing I got into years ago when I bought a used rental car (from the Rental Company) was that the tires were the cheapest possible and wore out quickly... the battery also went south soon, as did the brake pads.
My guess was the the car was built for the rental fleet and so the purchaser saved a few bucks here and there, know that those components only had to last 12 months or 12,000 miles.
Also check CAREFULLY for signs of any accident repairs. The rental companies promise full access to records about the car, but often forget to give them to you. Be wary, and you'll be OK there.
