Everyone, except us, seems to be making zzzzs this morning. I am so sick of the vitriol spreading like hot lava on President Bush's nominee that I'm going to save my sanity by reading a good book and making soup today.

Good morning! I see that John Fund is passing judgment on Miers' qualifications. With the ethical baggage that HE has, I question HIS qualifications to judge anyone.

Isn't it amazing? I think there is something going on that we don't know about, and the SC nomination is just the symptom.
I find that I am reading less of columnists lately, because it has occurred to me, finally, that they really are no more expert than I am; they just happened to be lucky enough to live where they could get hired by a newspaper.

HUH?
So we have to add John Fund to the list now?
Fund spent the weekend listening to people who know the woman....and came away with his position changed.

A few years from now, when the reporters ask Bush what his biggest mistake was - he has the ready answer.

i'm with Miss Marple on this one. These pundits don't know any more than we here at FR do about Ms. Miers, and I for one will make up my own mind when I see and hear her for myself. Fund's interviews of those who know her, when you get right down to it, amount to hearsay.

I understand the misgivings, and it's okay for us to have differing opinions. We learn from that. Believe me, I pray that we get a strict constructionist.
Do think the columnists are pretty puffed up with themselves, though.
Heavy prayers needed through this transition, for sure!

How many of those interviews were done in Austin? I am certain anything to do with the lottery commission were done there.
There is just something else going on, I am convinced.
I will wait and see what the hearings bring. I refuse to make up my mind based on rumor and hearsay.

Change of subject: The earthquake devastation in and around Islamabad, Pakistan, is staggering. It really came home to me when my grand daughter told me that her college friend from Pakistan had lost TWENTY relatives there.

Sounds like a few pubs in Washington are against women to me.

Conservative women. Pity they still embrace Hillary though.
Interesting comment from Scalia about Sandra Day O'Connor: She was "the social glue" of the SC....took charge of field trips. (Source: F&F)

I urge everyone to read this column by Mike Adams, a conservative professor at UNC-Wilmington. He gives valid reasons for his change from liberal dem to rep....but also adds his opinion that rep women are better looking!

Mike Adams's biography is a very good read.....he is NOT in the mold of the typical college professor.

Grrrr, The contractors are at it here big time, hiring out of towners on the good jobs. Becknel() has the overall contract with FEMA, There are a LOT of folks here upset, been urged to call the WH, Gov, etc. Don't get me wrong, we welcome the out of towner's but it is not fair when at least 75% of the jobs are to out of states. We have lost over 20,000 casino jobs alone for at least a year.

Good night all, to bed I go, got doc appointment tomorrow, a follow up, in other words a $ visit for him.
