Cry for help--silly putty incident(vanity)

Posted on 10/08/2005 1:38:48 PM PDT by hindsfeetnhighplaces

Hello fellow freepers. I have somewhat of a conundrum. My ever inquisitive 5 year old put silly putty on the TV remote and it won't come off!! My husband will NOT be amused. LOL. It could be worse. At least he hasn't thought to stick a PBJ sand. in the VCR--yet. Anyway, if anyone has any ideas on how to get the silly putty off of the remote I would appreciate the help. I did a web search. It appears WD40 will disolve it but I am not sure what that would to to the remote itself. Any ideas?

I don't know if this will help, but if anyone ever drops their TV remote into their foot sauna, put it in the oven at 150 degrees for about 15 minutes or so. It worked for me.

Good luck. Don't you just love little boys? When mine was 6 yrs. old and discovered how to operate a Phillips screwdriver, nothing was safe. Toys, TV remotes, and calculators were his favorites. ;-)

We found food (too rancid to identify) in our VCR once.

Never mind the bollocks about neutrons. Just take off and nuke the site from orbit. It's the only way to be sure.

LOL, this whole thing reminds me of the "vaseline" story my Mom has told on me for years.

My (then) 2 1/2 year old daughter woke up early one Sunday morning. She was playing with the (long haired) dog in the kitchen, and decided he was hungry. So she fed him. Butter. Lots of butter..

Then she decided he needed a hair cut, found Daddy's electric razor, and started trimming.

We woke to find hair and butter all over the kitchen.

After we cleaned the kitchen, dog, and daughter, we took a nice long drive. That was a difficult way to find out she had eaten hair and butter as an early morning snack.

The kitchen was easier to clean than the back seat of the car.

;-)

Yuck. LOL I have never had to deal with a mess quite that large and messy. Although my son does frequently get car sick.

Oh yah, Except for the time my son got ahold of the baby powder containter. It looked like it snowed on my hard wood floors that I had just cleaned. I remember walking into the room and saying "what in the world am I going to use to clean this up". I had company due to arrive any minute. I thought broom? NO that would make the stuff fly into the air and it would take me a week to sweep it up. Vacume? no, same result. Finally I thought to wet a towel and use that to wipe up the mess. The powder stuck to the towel. I got it cleaned up just as my company arrived. And my house smelled baby powder fresh for weeks. ;)

Soak the remote in motor oil for 30 minutes, then microwave for 2 minutes on high. Repeat until your husband spanks you. After this he will not be interested in television.
