What is really amazing is that Ginger Baker is still alive.

They'll be playing at Madison Square Garden sometime soon for a few concerts. I'm glad to see Jack Bruce and Ginger Baker make some cold hard cash! They can use it now they're old.
Cream was one of the best back then. I saw them once and though they sounded thin. They needed the overdubbing of the records. Same for the Stones

IMO,Rock & Roll is to be performed by guys (and gals) in their 20's and 30's.I have no desire to see The Stones Metamucil Tour or the Cream Reunion "brought to you by Depends".
Others,most likely,disagree.

I loved Cream, had all of their albums. But I have to disagree with you re:songwriting. The Beatles were far, far superior. Lennon or McCartney as Beatles wrote more important and memorable songs than Bruce, Clapton and Baker (Toad?) combined did as Cream. That's not even counting Harrison. The Beatles were so bizarrely talented as songwriters it's just sick.

I first heard this group in the late 60s, and of course I knew of Clapton, but not Bruce nor Baker. I thought then as now that they were fantastic.

Would've thought they'd have curdled by now.

I saw Cream, on my first real date, somewhere around 1968 or 1969. They performed in PHX in a theater in the round, on a stage that was to rotate. Well, it broke down, and all I saw for the entire concert was Ginger Baker's back and the amps. Every once in a while when Clapton or Bruce went out to a mike, I could see them, but not when they were playing. Since I'm a drummer, I didn't mind watching Baker the whole time.

For those Freepers under 40, this is the best rock band for muscial virtuoso, writing talent, power, innovation, etc. to come out of the 60's.I am under 40, but how about King Crimson?
