The FreeRepublic Saddle Club - Who's Who *pics*

This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.

I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts… look for it there and wake the thread up!

I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and MissTargets will now be pinging everyone most mornings. Let MissTargets and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in…. There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics… land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news…. Legislation that might affect horse owners.

So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

When you update the Who's Who page, take Rusty off of course (BTW, no I haven't talked to Debbie since she bought him, I will when I take her pad back to her.)

Take Belle off too, I'm selling her as soon as I can. I'd like you to change Harley's picture to this one.

No hurry on any of this, but since you asked:), when/if you get to it thanks:)

I personally would like to see a grocery store go in where the walgreens is. I don't know why they're putting another one in, there's one a couple of miles down the road. I don't see what clustering accomplishes. But that's why I'm not a business person I guess. :-)

That's a good pic of Harley... Will do on Rusty, though he could stay there for a little while since he'll come up in conversation - Not going to try to breed Belle again? Are you selling her as a brood mare?

Yes strictly as a brood mare. She is just not safe to ride altho she is as sweet as pie to handle.

NO I don't want to breed her, I don't want to raise a baby, I just want to ride one horse:). Well, I'll ride Rocky occasionally just to give him something to do, but for all intent and purpose one horse is all I want.

OKAY then ;~D

We'd like to have one baby - horse - sometime... I suppose that means Cyn, since I have absolutely no need for ~two~ ponies.

Speaking of ponies and babies. That pony that Charlie and Kristy got. They were told that the previous owners had her running in a pasture with a young stud horse, that was not a pony. They didn't think he could breed yet, but he breed her, and her baby is a full size horse....So I guess pony mares can breed to full size horses. I wouldn't reccommend it but she did it. The guy that gave it to my kids said she does have trouble occasionally with a hip, and they believe it was from that pregnancy. So sad.

Yeah - ~shakes head~ They say babies don't get bigger than the womb of the momma carrying it, but I think that pushes it.

Did you send both to the same trainer?

Thanks Hair, we like her. Yes, my daughter will show her. As for the trainer, I sure want her to go back to the one who trained the Arabian. He did an excellent job on her. My daughter knows a young fellow who is training, and is a little cheaper on price. The Arabian is doing just fine. I wish I had more time to ride. So much to do around here, before winter sets in. I really need to retire early. :0

I would have thought Okie done but I think his head getting bigger. His halter getting tight to buckle. I don't care if he spreads out but I hope he doesn't get any taller.

What kind is it? Some halters will shrink, when they get wet.

I've had it two years. I can't tell you the brand off hand. Maybe it got wet while he was gone but I've got them wet before with no problems.

Harley's hoof looks a lot better. That is good, he admitted his mistake. Your decision to concentrate on one horse is a good one. When you have too many, it becomes so much more of a job, and is not as enjoyable.

Thanks for the photo information.

Do I understand that the horse in your picture is named Bay? (... still looking for the post...)

We have an Arab named Bey... Beywatch.

When I saw your screenname I immediately thought of the Lincoln Park Zoo.

I was born in Chicago and after we moved down to Florida, we visited every year.

Nice place, but too BIG city for me. :-D
