Oh Jeez, can some of you just shut up? - Pukin on FReeper- negativity

Posted on 09/29/2005 8:06:13 AM PDT by Pukin Dog

Can’t a guy take a vacation without the nay-sayin ninnies of negativity taking over this place?

As the self-appointed optimist of this forum, I must say that I am more than a little P-Od over what I have been reading coming from the scared keyboards of some of you folks. You act as if someone stole your little Republican cookies and ate them in front of you.

Look, I know it’s not the best of times for Conservatives if you are concerned about spending or the protection of the borders. However, it escapes me why it seems impossible for some of you to take any note of the fact that despite everything you read and hear in the MSM today (including the Delay indictment) that we are winning on practically every measurable point.

Where is your confidence?

I make no bones of the fact that it makes me very happy whenever something occurs that makes liberals angry, sad, bitter or afraid, (which is true of them by default) , but liberal unease or unrest is not required for me to feel fine about the Conservative agenda.

It seems that whenever liberals have cause (no matter how stupid) to celebrate, it causes no end of angst and concern on this side of the aisle. Why is that? In fact I really enjoy the idea that liberals seem to think that they are playing a winning hand, because as long as they believe in that foolish notion, they won’t do the things that they actually could do to gain some ground against us.

But they won’t.

Why?

Because they are stupid, that’s why. And the fact that they are stupid should be enough to allow most of you to sleep better at night, like me. “Oh, you say the liberals are energized? Well, wake me when they get a clue, okay?”

I’ll begin to worry about liberals when they can actually propose a good idea for the country that does not involve raising my taxes, does not involve limiting my individual right to kill cute little animals and eat them, does not involve telling me what I can say, or who I can say it to, or is not about sharing the rights given me by the Constitution to non-citizens, or those who believe in two-penis marital bliss.

Oh yeah, I’m so scared.

You know when I’ll be scared? I’ll be scared when Democrats understand that lower tax rates increase government revenue. I’ll be scared when Democrats learn to love and appreciate the U.S. Military. It will frighten me when Democrats let Blacks off the plantation and let their children attend the schools of their choice with tax-supported dollars. It will frighten me when Democrats understand that their stupid little hybrid cars and eagle-killing windmills are not the answer to our energy needs, and begin to support drilling for oil wherever we find it in sufficient quantity.

Anyone heard a good idea from a Democrat (or liberal) lately? Let’s listen, shall we……

*crickets*

Nothing, folks. Nothing at all from these nuts.

But you do hear a lot of lies, don’t you? Now, if they were winning, would they have to lie about everything, all the time? Would they need to be propped up by a compliant media willing to turn their every thought into a reported attack on our side, no matter how ludicrous the accusation?

What is worse than the negativity from some of you is the stupid idea that the President actually needs to get down in the mud with these losers and fight back. Nothing could be more dumb and idea, and nothing would make the Democrats happier than to have the President out their responding to their worthless agenda.

Think about it like this:

If someone were to grab a knife and point it at you in anger, you would have righteous reason to kill them, would you not? Now, what if that person, instead of a knife, were to point a toothpick in your direction, as though they were going to kill you with that instead? Would you kill them, or just laugh at them?

You see, much of what you folks percieve as Democrat knives, are actually just little Democrat toothpicks, that cannot really harm anyone. A poke might sting a little, but how much damage could it really do, before you beat the toothpick wielding assailant to a bloody pulp?

I’ve said before, that the time to worry, is when the President is worried. Guess what, Freepers; he aint worried. Did anyone see any stress on the face of Tom Delay yesterday? I didn’t.

Try to remember sometimes that there is a big difference between heat and light. Democrats and liberals have lots of heat, but no light, which is why they are always running into things, crashing and burning. They get nowhere, they get nothing accomplished, they only give themselves more reason to be the pathetic, angry, bitter, victims they enjoy showing you every single day.

For once, if you are one of those who think that Bush needs better PR, ask yourself if you think he needs that PR in order for you to feel better each day, or because he needs to win more fights against Democrats. Then, ask yourself how many fights against Democrats our President has actually lost? Democrats decided long ago that they cant beat either Bush or Delay, to their best course of action would be to try to get rid of them as soon as they can. Democrats intend to make tons of accusations in the weeks and months to come, all geared towards legitmizign their stalwart opposition to the President’s agenda until they can find a way to replace him.

They are going to try to plant the idea in the populace that the Bush administation is corrupt and should not be trusted to lead. They intend to use that premise as an excuse to fillibuster the next Supreme court nominee (Luttig) and hold up every measure that they can to keep Bush from succeeding.

The Democrats are going to reach new levels of shame when they attempt to stop ANWAR drilling. It is going to be a fight for the ages, just you wait.

The point of all this, is that the only way that the Democrats can actually gain enough of a foothold to do damage to this administration, is if you negative bozos start parroting the liberals in your attacks on the President. If you are a finger-in-the-wind Republican, you are doing no one any favors when you fail to balance current obstructions and detours in the agenda with the unmistakable evidence that the Conservative agenda is still moving forward, winning victories all the time.

If you Freep solely for the purpose of sharing your insecurites with the world, just like a pussified liberal would do, I ask you to check yourself. If you cant sleep at night without sharing with all of us how you are more informed, more equipped and more able to fight this fight than the Bush administration, then don’t just check yourself, check yourself into a mental ward too.

Must I remind you that Republicans currently control about 85% of this government, and that Liberals control almost NOTHING? Do you need a scorecard to tell you that Al Gore is sitting somewhere eating twinkies in the dark, and John Kerry is still looking for swiss cheese on his cheesesteak, while George Bush is having breakfast in the White House?

And when the MSM tells you a lie, are you going to get mad and gripe like a little bitch, or are you going to steel your resolve and understand that if the other side needs to lie, then they have already lost the dammed war?

I don’t care if every day is a liberal flame-fest against the Conservative agenda, except for on election day. If it makes liberals happy to throw grenades at our side, let them come. Nobody ever one an election by screaming “DON’T VOTE FOR HIM!” You win elections be giving people reasons to VOTE FOR YOU!

If the liberals ever figure this out, then we might have cause for concern.

But they wont, because they are stupid.

And if you think we are losing, then so are you.

So, you admit to reading my comment, but NOT the article? You didn't even get to check my spelling! It is a long running joke (for those who actually read my rants) that my spelling leaves much to be desired. I have decided to joke back about it, instead of feel bad about it. It wasn't flippant, just an inside joke.

But then, since you don't like to read my long rants, you would not know that, would you?

Don't take it personally. This is the first time I have seen one of your rants. You obviously have a following, so I will have to give it a chance in the future.

I have a tendency to pop in and out, skim the headlines, read what strikes my interest and then move on.

Yes, if an article (any article) is too long I tend to either skip it, or flag it for a future read. Now that I see you have such a fan base, I will read you in the future.

Fair enough?

I'm honored, sir.

I have decided to blog, maybe by Christmas time if I can find the time.

As for Luttig, I am repeating what (a little bird) told me. The message was that Bush hates 'conventional wisdom' and is seeking who he sees as the best jurist available, regardless of race or gender. Were he to do differently, then he would be guilty of the same kind of considerations that he is hoping his nominees will avoid.

I could be wrong, but if I am, with the exception of Janice Brown, I will myself be disappointed.

Great Rant! It is fun to catalogue and debunk their lies, though... Like watching a never-ending slow-motion train wreck.

I don't see why anyone ever watches a soap opera (never did understand that) when we have the real deal on the left side of the aisle...

1. Yes Bush was strong after the 2004 election, and I didn't reference the 2000 election at all. I don't know why you think I raised it. Bush had a mandate to lead, as his party won seats both in the House and Senate - in terms of the GOP's strength in Congress, he was in his best position ever. I have no problem with compromise, but he himself talked about his political capital and his intent to use it. He failed to use it.

2. Bush went from winning 52% of the popular vote to approval rates in the low 40s. That's alienation, any way you cut it.

I never suggested that he should ram through every conservative issue on the menu, I don't know where you got that. My posts on FR consistently show that I don't think the electorate is nearly as conservative as we on FR are. I'm making no error in judgment. The fact remains that whether notably conservative agenda or not, he hasn't much to show for that political capital he intended to use. The President is at his weakest point in the last four years.

3. The 'they would have done so anyway' isn't helpful. they can attack, just don't make it easy for them. I illustrated some examples of how he made it easier rather than harder. Making it easier for your critics to connect isn't a good thing.

4a. I know the President doesn't control the weather, I didn't suggest otherwise. The perception remains that cronyism placed an unqualified head of FEMA. Truth be told, that's hard to rebut. Everything you said is true, yet has nothing to do with the fact that there is a perception he was caught flat footed and inattentive. I don't think it's true, but I do think that's the impression.

4b. Clinton's stature has been increased because of Bush & Bush. And he turned on them in that interview a couple of weekends ago. I saw that one coming a mile away. Dubya didn't? Not good.

5. I agree that Dubya is blessed to have overstating and overstepping political rivals. That's just dumb luck - he (and the GOP) can't count on that forever. That's just luck.

You won't find a bigger Bush supporter here, but Bush has no problem---NONE---spending money. He doesn't veto because to him, spending is not worth fighting over. But to my knowledge, Reagan never vetoed a single spending bill, either.

We can't give Bush a pass just because we like other things he does.

It will never happen because everything the Democrats believe is their form of religion. They never question their ideas or lack of ideas because their lives depend on their beliefs no matter how twisted they are.

If you don't believe that in the wake of both elections that the republican Congress stuck their fingers in the air to measure the political winds, you're missing something. When it comes to items like "No Child Left Behind", Medicare drug plans, etc, they were all "givens" in the political climate of the time. Yes, republicans made gains in both houses of Congress, state houses and governorships, but it was obvious to even John McCain what it was the country wanted: (mostly-)liberal policies in conservative wrappers. The devil, however, is in the details -- Bush did manage a few (small) conservative victories with these things.

However, each is an expensive exercise in public relations that simultaneously increases the reach and scope of the Federal government. They all passed with resounding republican majority votes. Hardly conservative, or republican, concepts to begin with, they are reactions to the political climate: i.e. the GOP has to be seen wearing a smiley face. Had the "conservatives" in Congress not been too busy tripping over their own feet to vote for such things, they might have made a stand for the very principles they now accuse the President of abandoning.

52% of the vote and 40% ([post election-)approval ratings in your second term are two different things. Bush may be unpopular now, but in time some of his policies will begin to bear fruit that cannot be imagined now (i.e. democratic Iraq, a population that can read, energy independance, etc). The disapproval rating, IMO, has more to do with the perception of the war (spoon fed to them by people who do not understand war or history), and people who are seriously concerned about $3 gasoline, but say nothing about $4 milk. We're being extremely short-sighted with regards to these issues.

Democrats take advantage of the short-sighted. It's the only way they can get elected. It's one of the built-in drawbacks to conservatism that what it stands for does not materialiaze in such a way as to placate those requiring instant gratification. This is a handicap that will plague any republican president, not just Bush.

As for whether or not you give your opponent an easier time in sliming you, you have a point, but my intention was to point out that such activity by democrats was inevitable to begin with. Bush could part his hair differently and the other side would debate the political opportunities such a change entails because they live and die by politics, which is their religion. One only has to remember that Al Gore got the regulations changed so that everyone has a low pressure toilet to realize that even that bodily function is governed by a democrat's politics. It's the nature of that beast to be reflexively contrarian and combative. The best way to deal with it is to pick your battles wisely.
