The electorate might not be ready for a female President, but TV viewers sure are.
Tuesday's premiere of Commander in Chief, starring Geena Davis as the titular White House honcho, scored the night's highest poll numbers, averaging 16.4 million viewers in the 9 p.m. hour, per Nielsen Media Research. ABC spinmeisters say those numbers make Commander in Chief the most watched drama series debut on a Tuesday night in five years. It also helped ABC win a very competitive contest.
The night, particularly the 9-10 p.m. bloc, is shaping up to be a key ratings battleground. While Commander in Chief outpointed everyone in terms of sheer number of viewers, Fox's House, which finished second with 13.4 million viewers, triumphed in the key 18-49 demo.

har har..... My husband says I'm beautiful, I'm not power-crazy, I don't pollute, and I've only become somewhat insane since menopause set in....AND I'm a Republican, and proud of it. As for the onset of insanity since menopause....well, that's Bush's fault too. ROFL!
yep - they were pimping this show like crazy.
Give it a few weeks when the schedule is full of new shows and people get distracted by other things.
ABC was bragging about how many people watched "invasion" the first week - heck, I watched it, but it sucked, so I wasn't back the second week.
Those numbers are soft and will not hold up in the coming weeks.
WHAT'S that about Geena Davis'....???

just another leftist TV show... next weeks ratings will be way down
If they want to make money they should make some right-wing shows too, half the country is attacked with nothing to watch in prime time. There is a big unused audience out here waiting. They will never do such shows of course.
its the leftist Donald Sutherland right??
I like LOST and thats about it
Me, too. LOST is a smart show.
MY NAME IS EARL holds some promise. Except I don't know why the Coen brothers aren't suing the show for ripping off "Raising Arizona."
Right! I couldn't think of his name.
I won't be watching the program, but I was curious if he was going to protray a repub; he seemed to be snarling at the CIC during the first program. I just didn't hang around long enough to find out.
Sutherland plays the arch-evil conservative GOP Speaker of the House.
That would be this guy.
Geena was apparently a Clinton supporter. But she's doesn't seem to flog the world with her political views, at least not compared to Sarandon.
I won't either. She's an outspoken liberal skank.
Yep! But I can't seem to find out what part he's playing.
I KNEW IT!!
In all the ads for the series before it started, it always showed him as sinister and mean and in her face making threats .. etc.
OMG .. the left hasn't learned anything. People deserted the West Wing because they kept portraying ALL the republicans as either complete bumbling idiots or fire breathing dragons.
Sutherland will KILL THE SHOW .. because as usual .. the dems will overplay their hand.
Celebrities have a right to whatever political persuasion they wish and I can live with that however dumb a choice it may be. Just as long as they don't try to use their Star power to force their agenda upon the rest of us.
Exactly.
