The lawsuit claims that the “track lacked adequate safety procedures and the driver who struck him was traveling too fast [over 100 MPH].

Not meaning to sound insensitive but, this occurred during a race! The racers are supposed to drive fast! That's how you win a race!

Come on folks! What's next?
Suing the winner of the Miss USA pageant because she is "too pretty"!
or how about suing the winners of the Super Bowl because they played better than the other team.
This country has gone lawsuit crazy.

Yep it has gone lawsuit crazy. I still hope the kids didn't see their father die that way though.
By the way I am glad your Irish lass didn't get the boot last week. :)

I tried to think of a decent, controlled response to the above statements, but I just couldn't.

What an insensitive ASS you are! Shame on you!!

Well yes and no. Roy Weaver was a track crew supervisor and he was clearing debris from the track when he was struck. He was doing his job. Whether or not he was doing it at the appropriate time is the question. (Apparently the race officials didn't call a caution before he stepped on the track--or if they did then the drivers didn't get the message.)

Also, Linda Weaver is only suing for $75,000--a very conservative amount considering that Roy Weaver was the sole breadwinner for their family.
