The only thing I can think of is that they ran the cameras through one of those devices that you plug into the cigarette lighter.
The trailer had cameras on board for the 'camping' scenes. Odds are that someone in the production crew, while checking the equiptment, left the cameras on in that trailer and drained the battery. It wouldn't be an issue at the trailer park since they'd be plugged in to house power there, but on the road, it would run off the battery of the truck through the trailer connection.
Just my guess, but this seems likely to me.
