Good Sunday evening to you, fellow Freeper baseball fanatics. Great week just past, and an unreal last week to the season upon us..I wanted to get the thread up now, since I may not have a chance to do so tomorrow..The races are wilder, and tighter, than ever..
I'm not a Braves fan, but it is time for people to recognize the Braves feat of 14 straight division titles is one of the most tremendous feats in sports history. It's much tougher to win a division over 162 games, than to get hot for one or two weeks and win a World Series.
Well, if it comes down to Sunday..Yankees have Moose going for them....GULP!!!!!
Odds are improving for that 4-way tie. Still a very long shot.
Where was everyone last night?
On the scale of what's in theaters right now, pretty darn good! Can't wait for Serenity to come out ....
The Braves 14-year winning streak has to be one of the most overrated of recent baseball feats. Despite having 13 postseason appearances in a row, they have won exactly one World Series.
FYI..NY POST today reports that Torre is inclined to leave Embree off the post-season roster..also, Yankees RAISED post-season tocket prices an aveage of 20%..across the board..and yippee..ESPN has the Red Sox game..I get to see it tonite..
dang it, that means I probably don't get to see it.
That is absolutely correct, if perhaps a little overdramatic. But no rational person would denigrate that kind of amazing streak. They've done it with a healthy but not exorbitant payroll, outstanding coaching and excellent talent management.
Think about it, all the turnover the Braves have had, and they haven't had one off year for 14 years. And there were years they literally needed to win 100 games just to win the division and make the playoffs, not like San Diego that probably will get in with a losing record. The Braves were picked to do squat this year with so many rookies, and yet here they are celebrating another pennant.
Traveling on business, almost wrecking my car during the last nine outs of the Indians game (drat!)...

Bronson serving up batting practice
Bases loaded (2 outs) for Millar in Boston.
Who is Bronson?
To have a streak that long is a testament to the management of the whole organization. But there's also an element of good fortune as the divisions were expanded several years ago.
Arroyo...
And Millar hits a weak fly ball to right with the bases loaded....
And he wonders why he gets booed at Fenway
