Like hell they did! Listen, I'm from Baltimore, and I live ten minutes by car from Camden Yards. I've been to 30 Oriole games so far this season. The Orioles went on their first major losing streak right around the time of Palmeiro's test, not the annoucement of the result. I believe (and I freely admit that I have no "inside" knowledge of this, and it is pure speculation) that the team knew that he tested positive before the general public knew, and that it was a distraction. Now, as far as Miguel Tejada, for Palmeiro to impugn the character of Tejada, who has become "Mr. Oriole" after the retirement of Cal Ripken, is just deplorable. Anyone who watches Tejada knows he has too much love for baseball to do something like that.
I am sad to say that I had previously cheered Palmeiro, and bought into his lie that he was a man of integrity. Now, when Jose Canseco names players, and tells of instances of steroid use in baseball, I won't question his motivations and credibility. This situation with Palmeiro proves Canseco's credibility.
