We now have Nascar fans running the computer models, look at the "left turns".

Those ain't NASCAR fans; that's the field-fillers making their early hard-lefts into the garage :-)

And the latest model runs are taking this thing eastward toward the Texas/Louisiana border, with most of them stalling her around Arkansas.

Thanks it's my pleasure. Hope I can be here for some of the events. My internet is not so great on a good day here, and with so many evacuees in town I don't know if I can get online. OTOH if we lose electricity it won't matter anyway.

That sounds a lot better!!
What idiot people are out there that love to screw things up. No matter what he did, the money is for a good cause. I just hope he'll throw something this week and donate to Texas.

Best of luck to you and everyone else in the path, including my little brother in Austin. I don't know how directly he or you are in the projected path, but hang on!

I thought it was about time the 24 had his turn on the thread. :)
I simply had to do something, I have talked with so many people in the last few days. Mostly from Baytown, Beaumont, Freeport, Galveston and yesterday Houston. You could hear the sense of despair/worry in their voices. I even called the Mayor's office but they brushed me off so I called the church and they were happy to help.
That little turn Rita made last night should help you guys out a LOT.
I will be lucky to meet some very nice people today and try to help them through this.

Field fillers huh? Never thought about them getting into the mix, we could have the same results as on the track! ;)
Looking better for our part of the world at the moment.

Hey TB, we're in good shape, if you ever can be with a storm in the Gulf. If it keeps turning, it will end up back in NO.:)
Most of the evacs have been rescinded down here and were back to normal hot and dry weather It is a bit warm, 100+ everywhere and about a 0 mph breeze.

Good to hear Rita will be missing you.
Jayski updates -
- Tire notes - once again they're running D-6852 on the left (also used at California/Charlotte/Chicagoland/Kansas/Michigan/Kentucky) and D-6812 on the right (unique to Dover) with inner-liners all around. Estimated pit window is 90-95 laps for fuel.
- DEI will appeal the Mikey penalty of 25 points and $10,000 for an "inappropriate gesture during a televised broadcast".
- Smoke and Biffle both wrecked again Wedsneday at Lowe's (Biffle's wreck is covered in a bit more detail on last race's thread and further down in Jayski's news). Smoke did have the top speed before wrecking.
- Folks at TNT/NBC are denying that they aren't returning in 2007 in response to a Yahoo Sports story that says they weren't.
- On Speed's new "Back Seat Drivers", Crash said that Mikey called him Tuesday to apologize and offer up a MWR car if he needs it (Crash is down on intermediate track cars).
- Smoke and Petty Enterprises are apparently teaming up to form a sprint car league to go head-to-head with World of Outlaws next year, taking most of the top drivers. Expect an announcement Friday.

At the moment, it looks like Houston will be spared the worse. The last one here was supposedly by, turned around, came back and nailed us.
We are currently out of the "red" zone.
In other news: TP&W, in response to the storm messing up opening day of the south zone dove season, has announced "no bag limit" on looters.
