We got another quality start from Arroyo-- his 4th in a row, and the Sox have won in the last 5 games he's pitched.

Believe me it didn't look so good early on. A 29 pitch inning with 13 of them balls. He gave up hits to a couple of hitters hovering at the Mendoza Line. He managed to settle down though and let me tell you, Manny killed that ball he hit for a homer. I was standing off to the back along 1st base line and it sounded solid when he nailed it.
Timlin pitched a good ninth, Papelbon came in an got a K in the 8th and the team played well save for the 10 strike outs, 46,000 fans there and I'd say 2/3 were Sox fans. The introductions for the Sox got way louder cheers than the O's.

Someone please tell Aaron Small that he actually is a piece of crap pitcher. He thinks he's Nolan Ryan and this has to stop. Aaron Small is not allowed to have a sub-3.50 ERA. It's the natural order of the universe we're talking about here. This could bring about the Apocalypse.

Posada grounds into a sweet double play, doesn't he? He should have every Yankee RISP at-bat.

0.5 GB.
If we take care of business, we'll be all tied up by tonight, with 7 out of 8 left in friendly Fenway.

It doesn't matter if we can't capitalize and tag BJ Ryan for a "L."

Shut 'em down!!!

The Os made a game of it, but winning ugly is still a win. Adam Stern's base-running was the margin of victory-- scoring from 2B on a bloop single.

Feel bad for the rookie. He left that fastball up and there was no question about it leaving the yard.
Timlin made it too close in the ninth, but a win is a win!

Timlin should not have been used; it's his 78th game of the year. Does Francona want to completely destroy his arm so that he can't be used if the Red Sox make it to the playoffs?

yeah, kind of reminded me when Schil was the closer. Any ball hit was hit hard. The problem they do have is finding a closer from the bullpen. He is used up. He needs rest and someone else needs to step up. That being said, who is going to take his place? Three rookies in the bullpen is not who you want to turn to when the game is on the line, but what choice do they have?
