My Chinese colleagues attacked me recently for their high gas prices and rationing due to the "FACT" that "the US had invaded Iraq to take all their oil" and with that amount removed from world production, the Chinese prices had gone up!

Of course, that's ridiculous, but that's what they really believe because that's what they've been told.

In fact, they had never even heard of the OFF scandal, and thus I could not convince them that the Iraqi oils production was much worse off when the French and Russians etc were actually stealing oil.

Soooo....is there a real good summary article (perhaps from a Chinese language source) that explains the before and after situation in Iraq oil, or even just a real good succinct** article about how the Iraq war enabled the discovery of the OFF scandal?

**Succinct because these guys (like Cindy's Cadres) have VERY short attention spans and believe anything lengthy must be an attempt to obfuscate!

I've got Chinese friends who are told in their state-run schools that "Americans start all wars" (neglecting to tell their students about Tibet, Viet Nam, Mongolia, and other victims of Chinese agression).

They also are told that no Chinese people are allowed to travel in the USA for pleasure trips because of Bush.

I didn't find too much "personalization" of politics in Asia....mostly just racist stereotyping. Not so much that Bush was particularly bad, just that he's an American, and all Americans are idiotic fat slobs compared to the slim and wise typical Asian.
