VANITY** Dead Men Votin **VANITY

By now most people accept that it would have been easy for Mayor Ray Nagin to follow the steps of his own cities evacuation plan and order the mandatory evacuation, commandeer at least 140 yellow school busses and prevent what could have been an even more tragic disaster. Had Katrina not veered off towards Biloxi and hit New Orleans full force, some of Nagin’s most dire body count estimates could have been a reality. The real question is:

Why didn’t Mayor Nagin or Gov. Blanco do it?

Why did Nagin give up a golden opportunity to rescue the base of voters most likely to vote for him and Gov. Blanco. Why did they risk loosing some or all of them in the Superdome? Was he really mulling the legal ramifications of calling an unnecessary mandatory evacuation? He could have been the next Giuliani. What politician would pass up the chance to act heroically and be able to wave that flag for the voters in every upcoming election?

Was he afraid? Was he unaware? Was he misled? Was he incapable of heroic action? Was he just a day late and a dollar short?

I think they knew precisely what they were doing. Nagin and Blanco were walking in lockstep with virtually every socialist dictator, they were preventing their comrades from leaving. I am sure that if calls were made to Mayor Daley in Chicago or Kilpatrick of Detroit they would have sent luxury coach busses to pick up the voters…er I mean victims. Nagin and Blanco’s worst nightmare is that the victims will not return and be supplanted by middle class or wealthy homeowners. Just as often happens in Florida when a landowner cannot afford to rebuild they can still realize a substantial windfall by selling to someone with the financial resources who can. Without the voting power of the people on the welfare roles their chances of being reelected are significantly reduced. The actual damage Nagin perceived from disenfranchising his base was more desirable to loosing them altogether because even if they are dead they can still vote and dead voters almost always vote a straight democratic ticket!

Nagin, Blanco and friends rolled the dice and revealed the dark underside of letting our problems go unaddressed for too long. America slept through the wake up call and now we’re late for work but Americans aren’t afraid of hard work in fact we like it. When the job is tough and things look the darkest… that’s when Americans do their best work. Now let’s get to it.

I've been thinking of the voting aspect, too. I wonder how all this is going to affect *Texas*. More congressional districts, perhaps?

Let's take this vanity as a chance to have a poll.

What is the biggest CRIME committed by Blanco and or Nagin?

I think it is a close call between not evacuating and refusing to let aid in because they did not "want to attract" more people in need of food and shelter.

Another thing not mentioned, or perhaps was but not discussed much here. The number of police officers. I have a feeling they were padding the payrolls. The FBI ought to do an investigation. I saw interviews with 80 year old police officers?? 80 Year old WWII vets still cops ? How many were or are still on the payroll vs the gangs, and other tyrants of NOLA. Were there lots of people that were getting paid but do nothing but visit a police station, Levee board, once a day. Mafia type no show jobs ? I hope the Justice Department is doing a thorough investigation of the corruption there.

I bet there was hardly a police department to start with. People are going to be eating crow or worst. Perhaps there was hardly any public service to start with, everyone was on the take as the poor people just fend for themselves.

I think you have friends at Democratic Underground; you'll find the same style of thinking, or lack thereof, over there.

I woudn't be surprised if the aptly named Blanko got a call from hillary telling her..."whatever you do,don't give control to the feds"

More congressional districts,

How many people do you need for a new district? Isn't the current districts figured on 635,000 or so?..... Then nope, but if'n the border crossings continue then there maybe a new district or two....

I don’t understand, I was wearing my tinfoil hat when I wrote this.

What specifically do you think I got wrong here? I am new to this and one of the main reasons I decided to post this is to get feedback that can help me nudge my views towards reality. I am usually a bit over the top and I am not sure when I need to tone it down a bit. Would you be so kind as to elaborate regarding my lack of thinking?

Exactly, this is no different than the old political no show jobs of years ago in any town in the USA.
