Men! We are generally much more lowkey, like you have described, about our anniversaries too. But the 25th seemed to spark something in my husband.
I'm happy to report that the man who lives in our neighborhood who was born in New Orleans and lived there for years and is a staunch Democrat took me aside, and so did his wife, and told me they thought that Bush's speech last night was the best he's ever given. There is hope for some leftists.

There is much criticism of the Bush Speech here, because at first nobody knew how all of this reconstruction would be paid for.
Now that it's coming out that existing budget items must be cut to pay for the reconstruction, people are beginning to howl about the generosity because they fear their pet projects will be cut.
