We had Ronald Reagan...and right when most of us were first starting to think about politics.Unfortunately, some of us were brough up leftists and lived through the era in disgust. Some of us managed to escape the dark side though!

That's better than all of the other "shared experiences" the author cites put together. ;) I'm also 41 and have to agree, although I had a thing for Nixon when I was 10. My parents were horrified. But Carter turned them off to democrats forever.
