Did yo hear the interview with the engineer whp has been working on the Levees for a long time, discussing why the Levees busted, what it would cost to fix them and how..

And hear him say, that no amount of repair or "u[grading of the present New Orlkeans Levee system, will ever be able to protect the city from a force 5 or 4 class Hurricane? Basically said that the whole levee system would have to be redesigned and built anew to be able to properly protect the city from a future reoccurance, and his optimistic estimate with all the money in the world.. it would take at least 10 years?

Move NOLA to just south of Colorado Springs. Problem solved.

Psstt! The Dutch levees have failed too!!

Don't you love progressive socialists? Along with their lawyer friends and their Masters-in-black-robes, they demand 100% perfection in everything and when it doesn't comply - they destroy it in their courts - friendly politicians are helpful for this also.

There was a proposal for a massive upgraded levee and sea gate system in the 1970s, and work was begun on it. It was stopped by federal courts on behalf of environmentalists.

I'm not a troll...It *was* an interview on
H&C tonight. Personally, i think they should move the city 15 miles north, and rebuild it *there*.

Such an upgrade to the NO levies is more expensive than moving the whole town and population to Los Vegas. That's why it has never been done in the past and isn't worth doing now.

Relocate the housing districts sunk this time to other, higher areas and just make strong levies for the business and entertainment districts.

Heard on a radio show , they could have fixed it back in the 80's. Environmentalists sued, stating if they fixed the levee the right way it would destroy the forests, trees, disturb animal life etc. Along the same veins as the idiots out here who would not let people trim down all the ingrown brush for years, guaranteeing when there was a fire it would destroy hundreds of acres of land and peoples homes.

Decades ago, the Green Left – pursuing its agenda of valuing wetlands and topographical “diversity” over human life – sued to prevent the Army Corps of Engineers from building floodgates that would have prevented significant flooding that resulted from Hurricane Katrina.
