IL-2 is a good WWII air combat sim, probably the best there is at this point. The key in getting it to work for me was editing the config settings for the joystick. The default settings were just too "twitchy".

http://www.airwarfare.com/tech/sticks.htm has a great summary of stick set up for IL-2.

I only dabble in the game, not being very good at it. Starting out, it is best to set most of the realism settings pretty low, and you can enjoy the game even if you never change them to a higher level.

Also, even though the sim is a bit long in the tooth by computer game standards, with all the graphics options set to the max you need a decent CPU and graphics card to avoid getting a slide show.

I have all the products you mentioned. It can be a blast to play, and I prefer it to the MS series of flight sims, even though those are fine, too.

What I am really hoping for in the computer gaming sphere is a modern update of the "Red Baron" WWI flight sim. To me those early birds have a romance all their own.
