I like Stargate SG-1, haven't had a chance to see Stargate Atlantis yet, but I could never get into BSG. Just bored me to tears. Firefly rules - damned shame they got cancelled so soon.
DITTO!!!
OH MY GOD!! The Jayne episode! It is oh so hilarious!!
That is because she does not act like your typical TV blonde.
I don't really understand the program yet but from what I heard on tonites episode, there is a movie coming out that is supposed to be the "Prequil" to the series.
dont even ask me what that is about........
I really enjoyed tonight's BSG episode. Yes, in some ways it was a filler episode, but in true to Galactica form, they didn't forget serious things that happened in past episodes, particularly the Gideon incident.
The ending with the cylons in the theater was a nice payoff.
No arguments from me.
Agreed.
Yes it was...
My beef with Atlantis is that it is too international.. Atlantis should be run by Americans only...
That was the best filler episode ever.. I liked it how they played the original theme song.. The cylons in the theatre was surprising at best...
When Leoben said this to Starbuck, didn't she say he had no right to quote the scriptures? I took it to mean this line is from the polytheistic faith (though possibly one the Cylons embrace as well).
But I still think it possible that Kobol polytheism developed from a historical rebirth that looked to their original home - Earth - for inspiration - or, that Greek Gods from Earth were used as titles for mortal offices on Kobol, and, over the years and after the Exodus, these were perverted into Gods by the Colonists.
Cylons have either found Earth and discovered God, or found Bibles on Kobol and realized the Colonists were lost. The Cylon God "is love." He wants them to be fruitful. Sounds like they've got a copy of the Bible.
I can't really put my finger on why, but after I saw the latest BSG episode, I thought "Oh my God, Ron Moore's a Republican!"
I need to watch that one again.
After seeing that episode, I was like what the heck!!!! Best filler episode ever..
Could be. Notice two of our audience known cylons were in the press, seems to be a pretty strong case there for the MSM being the enemy, and the whole thing was very pro-military. Awesome ep.
Actually, I think Ron Moore's done a pretty good job concealing his political leanings.
I find how Adama's written to be particularly intriguing.
"The military protects the people from enemies of the state. The police protects the people from domestic threats. When the military does both, it often finds that the people have become the enemies of the state."
One of the things that has discouraged me in recent years is the complete absence of common ground the two major parties in America have. Civil discourse has gone away and we're left with vitriolic scaremongering and talking-points.
I find that Ron Moore has an uncanny knack for showing both sides of an argument and showing that the best answer often boils down to a judgment call. He illustrates over and over again that hindsight may be 20/20, but that real decisions must be made without the benefit of it.
Sometimes his story involves thinking I normally ascribe to liberals: Lee Adama turning on his father and the President to support a dissient who demands free elections, and offering amnesty to prisoners for labor come to mind.
Other times, the writing seems to seethe with conservativism, such as when Adama confiscated the tape from D'anna Biers in the interests of security, and in destroying the prodigal "Olympic Carrier" when it was suspected to have been compromised by the Cylons. The president tossing Leoben out the airlock seems very Free Republicish, while a liberal would have wanted to ensure the Cylon's rights were respected and that a fair trial was provided for him.
Unlike Star Trek, Battlestar Galactica has avoided getting preachy. The people seem real, and have flaws that oftentimes outnumber their virtues. Tigh is a perfect example...He is the last man you want in charge of the Galactica, but he and Adama are symbiotic and together make a whole greater than the sum of their parts.
This is great writing, great drama, and great entertainment. I was very leery of this after reading Dirk Benedict's scathing condemnation of the "re-imagining" of Battlestar Galactica, but the franchise has been done a great favor with Ron Moore's adaptation.
Their used to be a thin veneer of civility in politics which, but that is long gone. Many of our elected officials could take some lessons from how even fleet-rending disagreements leave room for rapproachment if political opponents treat each other with dignity and respect, even if they vehemently disagree with the position of their adversary.
As a fan of the original Battlestar I was skeptical at first. However, I'm impressed with the new version. I think it is going to last a long time..
