AMERICA - The Right Way!! (Day 1691) [Remember the Trade Center!!]
Various News Sources and FReepers | September 7, 2005 | All of Us

Posted on 09/07/2005 4:44:27 AM PDT by Chairman_December_19th_Society

We will not tire, we will not falter, and we will not fail!

Good morning!!

Do not let the victims of the attacks on New York and Washington, nor the brave members of our Nation's military who have given their lives to protect our freedom, die in vain!!

Four people have died as a result of norovirus, an easily spread cause of diarheea and vomiting, caused by infection associated with contact with the contaminated flood waters of New Orleans.

The EPA is testing what, exactly, is in the flood waters, and preliminary results will be available by weeks end.

It is known now, however, that e. coli is present in the water at 450,000 times safe levels.

NOPD officials say there are about 10,000 residents remaining in New Orleans, and those will be removed by force, if necessary.

A makeshift jail has been made at the New Orleans bus station--the first inmate was an individual who drove up to get a bus ticket out of town in a car he had stolen.

Eko-wackos are on their ever vigilant nannyism--scientists are warning about the long-term damage to the ecosystem by pumping New Orleans flood waters back into Lake Ponchatrain (like, where do they want it pumped?)

And the pumping? Three pumping stations are online, of the city's 148 pumps, and each is moving 4,600 cubic feet per second. This is somewhat better than a portable pump the Army Corps of Engineers had been using, which moved 9 cubic feet per second.

Flood waters should be removed in 3 1/2 weeks from eastern New Orleans, and in 2 1/2 months from Chalmette.

The good news is that 182,000 people have been rescued.

For AMERICA - The Right Way, I remain yours in the Cause, the Chairman.

Where are they going to go? I'm not so sure that $2,000 was a good idea.

Pelosi is a disgrace. Pinning down these bellicose critics to specifics is just the right way to "discombobulate" them. LOL

You and me both. I'm thinking they'll try to head back home. Hopefully they'll have some sense and try to stay close by. I can understand wanting to stay near their former home city.

It's appalling the mixed messages coming out of LA. The Governor and Mayor have been sending mixed messages to those poor people for over a week now.

One night last week both of them were on all the evening talk shows (instead of coordinating activities during the crisis) and they were saying completely different things.

One said, after the levees broke, that people should go to the SuperDome (walking through hip high water). The other one was saying the SuperDome was going to be evacuated in the morning. And on and on it went.

Not only that, the Red Cross was poised and waiting to deliver food and water to the Superdome last week. Blanco refused saying that they needed to get people out and if food and water was sent, then it would become a magnet and more people would come to the Superdome.

This woman is beyond stupid. The media is out there blaming President Bush and ignoring the criminally negligent behavior of Blanco. It is disgusting.

From National Review Online. (One comment from me, Blanco is considered to be a deliberative thinker, wanting all facts to make a decision. Others call her indecisive. I call her a typical stupid liberal.)
Louisiana Gov. Kathleen Blanco seemed at odds with New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin Wednesday, hours after the mayor ordered the mandatory evacuation of the crippled Crescent City by force if necessary.

As floodwaters caused by Hurricane Katrina began to slowly recede with the ruined city's first pumps returning to operation, Nagin late Tuesday authorized law enforcement officers to force the evacuation of the estimated 10,000 residents who refuse to heed orders to leave.

But in a Wednesday interview with FOX News, Louisiana Gov. Kathleen Blanco said she had not signed off on the decision.

"The mayor certainly has ordered that but the governor, and that would be me, would have to enforce it or implement it. We are trying to determine whether there is an absolute justification for that," she told FOX News.

"I think the most important thing driving that decision would be the possibility of disease. If indeed the disease problem is evident, is inevitable, we'll have to move to the next stage," she said.

And developments suggest that "next stage" may come soon. Floodwaters in New Orleans contain bacteria associated with sewage that are at least 10 times higher than acceptable safety levels, making direct contact by rescue workers and remaining residents dangerous, the first government tests confirmed Wednesday.

Five deaths in Texas and Mississippi have already been attributed to contact with the toxic water, the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reported Wednesday.

Fox News is reporting that tests done on the water shows levels of the poisons and other stuff in NO water and elsewhere is 10 times higher than normal sewage. Um, Blanko is that enough information for you?

And I believe the MSM is deliberately leaving the impression that it's the federal Homeland Security policy that forced the Red Cross to retreat from NO. It was the State Homeland Security, but it hasn't stopped articles from being written today, incorrectly.

FNC just said the water being piped out of NO into the lake will make its way to the Gulf and there is concern this will dramatically damage the eco system of the Gulf. Maybe the envirowackos will take their anger out on the people who literally misappropriating level/flooding $$ to use for other important projects like bike paths.

Minimum 800 kids, possibly thousands, separated from their parents. This is the saddest aspect in all this, imo.

There is total irony in the fact that one of the levees that broke had just finished being repaired. They could have thrown money at the levees and it wouldn't have made any difference.

FNC is now showing pictures of kids without their parents. So sad. Cute little kids and defiant teenagers.

And people are complaining about FEMA just giving them a 1-800 number to call for further assistance. How come Florida was a able to use FEMA appropriately? Probably lots of experience (unfortunately.)

I'm going to crawl back to bed. I've got to get a couple of hours more sleep, I will be no good at work otherwise. this whole situation is just making me crazy.

The mayor certainly has ordered that but the governor, and that would be me,

What odd phrasing. And she's not sure yet that the water is tainted? She must not be listening to the health officials in her own state. Shaking my head in absolute disbelief. There just has GOT to be a law governing just how stupid an elected official is permitted to be before facing serious jail time. LOL

Agreed. Blanko needs to be jailed just for her stupidity.

I had just a great idea. We should email or call news outlets to see how many survivors the states of Nevada and California have taken in to help. Pelosi and Harry Reid have been blasting President Bush, but what have they and their states done to help? (I'm talking official government, not the individual people of CA and NV who have been sending help.)

Bill Sammon is saying that President Bush has taken his hit and the blame is starting to shift to where it belongs. I will agree that FEMA needs to change somewhat, maybe.

Here it is, 10 days later, and NO is pretty well evacuated. People are housed in shelters, being fed and clothed and will receive $2000 debit cards. They're starting to look at the future.

Jeez, Bill Sammon is giving a civics lesson to Edie on Fox & Friends. Local, state, and federal help in that order. And federal help must be asked for.

My sister and I were talking last night about the response.=
Next week we are reassessing our 72 hour kits. She's got a bigger task, she gets to get ready for eight people. Her front hall closet is full of 72 hour kits (soon to be 96 hour kits.)

Excellent idea about seeing just which states have taken in survivors. Massachusetts if the only northeastern state I've heard taking in people, but maybe I've missed some reporting. (And plan to miss a lot more since it's so negative and wrong)
