An M-16 can mount a bayonet. Most Game Wardens would be carrying a sidearm and maybe a sporting rifle. Few hunting rifles have bayonet lugs.
I can't imagine any game mananagement agency anywhere in this country issuing bayonet mountable rifles to their officers. But we can be sure that these survivors lived through a nightmare that is probably replaying in their memory over and over - for many changing each time and becoming less and less reliable.
